Take a guided walking tour or simply a relaxing stroll through the neighborhood’s charming cobblestone streets, enjoying the breathtaking architecture. From the elegant Haussmannian buildings to hidden courtyards, there is something to see and explore around every corner.
Visit the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg (Luxembourg Gardens), an oasis in the middle of Paris. This expansive park offers lush greenery, elegant fountains and picturesque flowerbeds, making it a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike to relax and enjoy.
The Musée du Luxembourg, on the edge of the Gardens, is the oldest public museum in the city of Paris, first opening in 1750. Throughout the years, the museum has held an important place in the city’s artistic center. It currently features several exhibitions each year.
Discover numerous small art galleries scattered throughout the 6th arrondissement, showcasing contemporary works as well as classical art pieces. For many skincare and makeup lovers, Citypharma is a must-visit both for selection and pricing. Be sure to get there early to avoid a long line.
Attend a performance at the the Théâtre de l'Odéon, one of the best-known theaters in Paris and one of France’s six national theaters with year-round performances.
Explore the Latin Quarter, one of the liveliest areas of Paris and home to several prestigious academic institutions.
Places to eat & drink in the 6th Arrondissement of Paris
Options for dining in the 6th arrondissement of Paris are plentiful and range from cafes to fine dining. There is something for every taste and budget. Some favorites include:
La Gorgee, located close to Jardin Luxembourg, is a small restaurant that provides excellent food, friendly service and a cozy ambiance for a wonderful bistro dining experience.
Le Procope, the oldest cafe in Paris, offers a rich history and traditional French cuisine. The service is friendly and accommodating and the prices are reasonable.
Le Bistro des Augustins is a tiny bistro located along the Seine that offers a simple and inexpensive menu. Their gratins are well worth the wait, and their salads and desserts are delicious as well. Be sure to make reservations in advance.
Fish La Boissonnerie is a small, welcoming neighborhood restaurant that is frequented by locals. The menu is upscale and interesting and the service is second to none. It is worth a visit and best to make reservations in advance.
Chez Georges is a historic Paris institution close to St Suplice. The food is excellent and inexpensive, though limited, and the Cave Bar downstairs offers music and a great vibe. It is the perfect place to have a break from tourists as there are many locals that frequent.
Little Breizh has, according to many, the best crepes in Paris. This tiny restaurant offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
The Frog & Princess is a trendy English-style pub with delicious beer, good bar food and friendly service. Major sports are shown throughout the week.
Il Forno Di Napoli is worth the stop if you are looking for an authentic Italian meal while in Paris. The pizza and pasta are great choices. This is not a fancy restaurant but it is tasty.
