Malibu things to do and where to dine
Beach: A little-known secret among locals is Zuma Beach, where families, lovers and friends pack a picnic and frolic along this long, spectacular shore-line. Swim, body-surf or catch a glimpse of grey wales as they migrate. After heading south with a long walk along the beach, often referred to by locals as ‘Free Zuma,’ be sure to grab a cocktail or snack at the local celebrity hip and happening Sunset restaurant. It's truly a gem in Malibu.
Market: Towards the north, Trancas Country Market is a charming retail, grocery and dining place for Malibu locals. Rest and relax among the barn-like structures. No visit to this fabulous little market is complete without dining at Kristy’s Malibu Village Restaurant and Café. Kristy, of Hawaiian origin, greets guests with warmth and a dashing smile, serving up delicious food with care in a welcoming and hip atmosphere.
Shopping: Malibu Village is renowned for its surf and pop-like culture, featuring a bespoke curation of retail and healthy vibe dining. It's a delightful place to discover unique finds in a beautifully designed open-air shopping area. Just down the road, be sure to try the gorgeous Greek salad at “Malibu Farm at the Pier.” The restaurant boasts a fabulous, playful atmosphere and has a fun, relaxed staff, all while being suspended above the water on the pier.

It’s full of charm and life — definitely a must-visit! Be sure to make reservations to dine at The Old Place, where you can enjoy honest food in a relaxed, down-to-earth California atmosphere. After your meal, head next door for a story-driven glass of wine at the lively Cornell Winery. If you love French home & garden architectural antiques, don't miss shopping at Charme D’Antan, which offers a wonderful curated selection of French home and garden antiques.
Paramount Ranch: If you wish to explore where classic Hollywood Westerns were filmed, visit Paramount Ranch. After a few photo ops at the historic Western film sets, take the time to stroll through the sweeping grasslands and bear witness to the majestic old oak trees.
Hiking: Discover beautiful natural pools just down the road at Malibu Canyon. Make a day of it and have a dip if you are brave, and hike and explore where the legendary TV show M.A.S.H. was filmed.
Whizin Market: A stop at Whizin Market Square offers a unique experience for shopping, dining and enjoying live music, all at 100% locally owned establishments. For the best gelato, be sure to stop by Tifa Chocolate and Gelato. Additionally, Sunrose, a restaurant run by a husband-and-wife team, serves delicious California-inspired lunches with a modern twist. Making it a perfect spot for family and friends. The atmosphere is light and inviting, and you will be greeted by the friendliest staff, ensuring you leave with a smile.
Music: For music, the legendary Canyon Club at Whizin Market offers old-skool live music concerts to tap your feet to, or have a little boogie.
