Where to stay

Day 1: Geneva arrival

A swan floats gracefully in a lake as the sun sets over the horizon.

If traveling from the US, you're likely to arrive in Geneva in the morning. Pick up your rental car and drive to Lausanne. Stop for lunch at L'Impression Cafe & Restaurant for a coffee and fluffy pancakes before checking into Beau Rivage Palace. Relax at the lake or, if you're feeling more active, play some tennis at the onsite courts. For dinner, head to Brasserie de Montbenon, a farm-to-table restaurant with a light, airy ambiance.

Day 2: Vines and tastings

A vineyard and farm stand in neat rows on a hillside as crystal-clear water sway in the distance on a clear day.

On your second day, it's time to do some exploring. Head to Lavaux, a UNESCO world heritage site known for its incredible vineyards layered across terraces overlooking the lake. Walk around the winding roads around the vineyards and head into Domaine Croix Duplex for a tasting to soak in the views. Then, make your way to Gruyere to take in the incredible Château de Gruyères and of course, sample some Gruyere cheese. If you're in town during the Montreux Jazz Festival (usually in July), buy tickets and spend the night watching some of the best jazz musicians from all over the world. Then, go back to your hotel in Lausanne.

Day 3: Bike and hike Interlaken

A rainbow arching over a farm house with mountains extending in the distance on a clear day dotted with clouds.

Spend the morning enjoying your last moments at Beau Rivage Palace before checking out and heading to Interlaken, where you will spend the next two days. Check into the Hotel Victoria for a majestic stay in the heart of Interlaken. The drive is incredibly scenic, so it won't feel like a wasted time. Rent a bike to ride around the lakes, or take the funicular up to Harder Klum, where you can do an epic hike. Enjoy dinner at Radius by Stefan Beer, a Michelin-starred restaurant featuring ingredients all sourced within a 50-mile radius of Interlaken.

Day 4: Mountain excursion

A man hiking along a rope around a rocky mountain on a clear day.

Fill up on breakfast sandwiches and coffee at Velo Cafe — you'll need the energy, because today is all about adventure! You have a few options — for those up for a steep hike, climb for stunning Augusthorn Mountain ridge views overlooking the lake. For even more exciting adventure, go paragliding through the mountains, try canyoning, or do via ferrata in Murren. You'll climb cliffs and cross between cliffs with only a tightrope under your feet. The best guided tours can be booked through Outdoor. After a long day of adventure, stop for a local beer at Barracuda and dinner at Aare Korean BBQ.

Day 5: Kayak and spa

A view of an historic bridge as travelers cross its brick path on a sunny day.

Spend the morning doing a last-minute activity or drive to Lucerne (not to be confused with Lausanne, where you started your trip!), where you'll check into Burgenstock, your hotel for the night. Head out for a kayak ride on the lake, then enjoy the hotel's amazing spa and relax in Burgenstock's pool, with panoramic views of the lake. Go for a walk in the old town and have a beer at Bierliebe and Friends. You can see the oldest wooden lake in the world from there. Eat dinner at Juliette Sharing Brasserie.

Day 6: Shopping in Zurich

A view of the river with tall city buildings in the background as diners sit on a patio near the water at dusk.

If you have extra time, I highly recommend spending some time in Zurich, a super clean city with gorgeous architecture that screams luxury. Enjoy shopping, the Godiva factory, and some of the best chocolate and coffee you've ever add!
