Curator’s statement

I have never considered myself a "cruise person"...but the adults-only all-inclusive approach on Virgin Voyage has made me a believer! For my first experience at sea, I'm so glad it was a Virgin Cruise onboard the Scarlet Lady. This short four night/five day mini vacation is the perfect mom escape, gal pal getaway, milestone birthday celebration group trip, singles adventure, or romantic couple's getaway.

Grab your besties, pack the carry on, and get ready for an elevated cruise experience! Four nights not enough? Virgin has itineraries to suit longer trips including the Caribbean, Mediterranean, UK, Asia and Australian offerings.

The Virgin Voyage App

You will need this app as your life line to all things Virgin Voyage. You can book dining, excursions, work out classes, & entertainment right from the app. You can also check the your Bar Tab, Sailor Loot, and personal daily schedule! The app is easy to use. It is also helpful for booking excursions prior to your sail. Some of the offerings are only available once you are on board. So have that app handy! Instructions on how to log in will be sent after you book your cruise with me!

Cabin Offerings:

Insider-can accommodate a solo traveler or up to four guests (windowless)
Sea View-porthole view of the sea
Sea Terrace-can accommodate two to four sailors, with your very own terrace with sliding doors and the famous red hammock.
Rockstar Quarters-Designed by Tom Dixon, these are more spacious and ultra posh. Selecting a Rockstar cabin grants you access to Richard's Rooftop. A private elegant deck for stargazing and cocktail parties.
Mega Rockstar Quarters-your own personal hot tub and dedicated Rock Star agents. The ultimate Virgin Voyage experience.

On Board Activities:

Casino-get your game on!

Redemption Spa. I enjoyed a lovely 50-minute massage. Well worth it. Access to spa amenities like the salt room and wellness pools is extra. *Insider tip: Book your spa treatment during a port day when it's not as busy. During At-sea days the spa gets pretty full.

Gym & Workout Classes-The Athletic Club is a fitness haven. The Perch is where you can do outdoor yoga. I enjoyed several laps round The Runway which is an outdoor jogging track. Such a great view on at-sea days! Some classes require a reservation.

Pool-Fun to lounge around during at-sea days and where all the action happens during the send off champagne toast!

Entertainment:

Duel Reality-A fast-paced telling of Romeo & Juliet. I really enjoyed this show!
Untitled Dance Show Party Thing-This was about as unique as it gets. Part dance show, part audience participation...you will wonder 'what happens next'?!
Live music & a Cabaret-at On the Rocks-nightly entertainment at the bar was incredible!

  • Other shows we didn't catch while with Scarlet Lady

  • It's a Ship Show-the on board dinner show

  • Miss Behave Gameshow-never-the-same-show-twice game dshow

  • Ships in the Night-edgy choreographed show

  • Another Rose-immersive audience dinner party

Day Trips:

Excursions, or in Virgin language-"Shore Things"

Key West-Key Lime Bike Tours was so much fun! Our tour guide helped guide us around the island and we stopped at historic places like Hemingway's House, Truman's Little White House, The Southernmost point in the US, and interesting places along the way. We ended the tour with a delicious slice of Key Lime Pie! My travel companion did a snorkel trip excursion and had a great time. They provided wet suits and all of the equipment to have a fun morning of snorkeling.
Bimini-We opted to enjoy the Beach Club for this port. The Beach Club at Bimini has multiple pools, bars, areas of seating with shade, or without. Beach access, fun music, and food offerings all for Virgin Voyage sailors. A tram picks you up at the dock and drives you to the beach club. There are also golf carts for rent.

For other itineraries the Shore Things Excursions are available for purchase prior to your embarkation. I highly suggest booking them when they open which is 120 days prior to your sail date. There might be availability once you board, but excursions often sell out. You can always enjoy the ports without booking excursions!

Culinary Delights

I would consider myself a bit of a foodie and an adventurous eater. I wasn't sure what to expect on a cruise. I was worried it going to be bland and boring. Quite the opposite! I was blown away with the selection and quality of food. ZERO buffets with Virgin Voyages. Another impressive experience: I saw no trash onboard. Dining and common areas were always pristine. Virgin's commitment to sustainability means no single-use plastics gumming up the trash.

There are over 20 unique eateries. I will highlight a few of my favorites.

  • Razzle Dazzle-Try the fried cauliflower. Yum. Both health conscious and cheat day worthy bites...all day!

  • Pink Agave-Shareable Mexican. The perfect quantities that left us satisfied and not stuffed!

  • Test Kitchen-By far the most interesting culinary experience I've had in a long time. It felt like a food network show! You might be seated with strangers but soon you will bond over the interesting dishes being presented. Think of it like a tasting menu.

  • The Wake-A sophisticated chop house with one incredible brunch! We had The Wake brunch before The Beach Club at Bimini. It was the best meal of the trip. Highly recommend the bottomless champagne!

  • The Galley-This is like a elevated food court. So many fantastic offerings. We typically grabbed breakfast here. Avocado toast. Made to order coffee. Tacos. Pizza. Sweets. Sushi Bento Boxes. Custom sandwiches. You'll find it all. And it's all so good!

  • Gunbae-Such a unique group dining experience. Again, you might be engaging with new found friends here, but trust me, it will be fun! This is table side Korean BBQ. Plus a drinking game with one complimentary shot of soju.
