Princeton Public Library - Not just for books, this library has its own cafe on the first floor (Jammin’ Crepes), lots of cozy chairs and couches near the fireplace, puzzle tables if you want to help find a match, a large Children’s area on the 3rd floor with an outdoor terrace and a small used book shop and gift shop on the first floor.
The Bent Spoon - Ice cream shop with unique flavors with also delicious hot chocolate on a cold day. Art on Hulfish and Art@Bainbridge - Free museums with rotating exhibitions.
Olsson's Fine Foods - Stop here for picnic items to enjoy across the street on the lawn. Olsson’s is a gourmet food shop with sandwiches to go (the grilled cheese is delicious). They also offer cheese making classes to make mozzarella and burrata.
Princeton University - Walk around campus and check out a game if the teams are playing at home. - GoPrincetonTigers
Outdoor Activities:
Terhune Orchards - Visit to pick your own fruit, vegetables and flowers depending on the season. Live music on the weekends and enjoy a glass of wine (winery onsite). Kid friendly farm activities including ride on pedal tractors, visiting the animals and walking the farm trail.
D&R Canal - Walk or bike the beautiful paths along the canal. In the warmer months, rent a canoe and enjoy the view from the water. - Princeton Canoe and Kayak Rental
Grounds for Sculpture - 15-minute drive from downtown; beautiful outdoor sculpture garden with a wonderful French restaurant. Tip - Reserve timed tickets on their website and make restaurant reservations so you can end the visit with a meal.
Explore downtown:
Palmer Square - Center of town with a large green space surrounded by shops and restaurants. Depending on the season, you can often find live music and other performances on the lawn.
Day Trips:
BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham - About a 30-minute drive away is the largest Hindu temple in the United States. It feels like you have been transported to India walking around the massive indoor and outdoor space. There is also an onsite restaurant if you get hungry.
