Things to do in New Orleans

Two people in costumes.

Take a trolley ride through the garden district. It is such a fun way to see the beautiful, historic mansions.

Catch a parade, New Orleans is known best for Mardi Gras, but during March they have multiple different celebrations and parades, most are much more family-oriented.

Wander through one of the cemeteries, they are moody yet beautiful.

Take a swamp tour while you're in the area. It's fun to ride in an airboat while trying to spot alligators.

Walk around the French Quarter. It is full of antique shops and art galleries. I love spending an afternoon just popping in and out of shops.

For kids or kids at heart, visit the New Orleans aquarium to see all the aquatic creatures.

Check out the shops on Magazine Street, it's a fun area with cute boutiques and restaurants.

Take a voodoo tour; it's both fun and spooky!

Places to eat & drink in New Orleans

Food

For brunch I love Stanley's, the Eggs Stanley is their take on eggs benedict but with cornmeal-crusted fried oysters... delicious.

Muriel's is another favorite restaurant of mine. I love their shrimp and goat cheese crepes and their pain-perdu bread pudding is to die for.

Cochon Butcher is a great place for a charcuterie board or a delicious sandwich.

Sweets

A classic sweet treat to grab is the beignets at Cafe du Monde. The line can be long, but in my opinion it's worth it.

Sucre on Magazine Street will satisfy any sweet tooth. They have an assortment of small desserts, such as macarons, tartes and pastries.

Other fun, unique places

The jazz brunch at Commander's Palace is such a fun start to a Saturday or Sunday.

For drinks, I love the Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone, it just has such a fun vibe.

Have dinner on the Natchez Steamboat; it's a fun dinner cruise that also features a jazz band.
