Things to do in Ibiza, Spain
Channeling wellness and beauty from the inside out? Make your way to Ibiza and explore the many spiritual and holistic retreats scattered throughout the island. One of the top retreats I recommend is Six Senses, a stark contrast to Ibiza's party vibes where it hosts a biohacking program that focuses on slowing down and longevity through both ancient traditions and cutting-edge science (think DNA testing, cryotherapy and electromagnetic thrones). This newly opened retreat is super chic and offers Ibizan style accommodations close to the crystalline Cala Xarraca. Touches of Ibiza's bohemian flare is also sprinkled in through the retreat's farm-to-table cuisine, yoga and meditation classes and energy treatments. This is also perfect for anyone who wants a wellness focused solo trip as you'll meet other solo travelers on a similar journey as you!
Ibiza is also the perfect location for group trips. Outside of the iconic nightclubs (nod to Pacha, Space, Hi, Amnesia), there's plenty to do during the daytime as well. For my first girls trip to Ibiza, we stayed at the infamous Ushuaia hotel where music was blasting day and night. The hotel welcomes non-hotel guests as well to their daytime pool and beach parties, and legendary raves with top artists such as Kygo, Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto and Maluma. If you're looking for something more low-key and chic, Nikki Beach should be on your itinerary. This luxurious establishment boasts high-end service and a sophisticated ambiance. Be ready to enjoy well crafted cocktails and fresh sushi from their signature white daybeds with their resident DJ's on full blast. Before leaving the island, be sure to check out Hippy Market to grab clothing, jewelry and home décor hand made by artists and designers worldwide.
Looking for something romantic with your other half, Ibiza has a softer, romantic side too. In addition to the island's music and party centric vibes, Ibiza is home to the most picturesque, calm beaches in Europe. Formentera is a very popular beach and day trip excursion, however, I'd opt for the smaller and hidden calas that are majestic and untouched. Cala d'Hort is a fantastic option where it's practically uninterrupted front row seats to the island of Es Verda. There's so many calas I suggest visiting but it's challenging to see them all in a truncated timeframe - my favorite recommendation is to charter a boat and sail along the west coast. Most of the calas are close together and tricky to get to by car or foot, so this is the best option to explore a handful while basking in the Balearic sun and enjoying the pristine sea.
Places to eat & drink in Ibiza, Spain
The island is abundant with incredible food selections from Michelin-starred establishments to family-run gems. Restaurante El Carmen is one I've personally been to and can vouch for their unbelievable paella accompanied with breathtaking sea views as it's perched right above Cala d'Hort. With wine in hand from their endless wine list, you can walk down and enjoy a walk on the beach in between meals.
Es Tragon is a staple as it was the first restaurant on the island to receive a Michelin star in 2019. This Spanish piece of heaven is inside a traditional Balearic finca with views of the Mediterranean and their garden where their gastronomy artisans collect fresh ingredients. Speaking of fresh, their unique menu is inspired by nature and sustainability where each dish is made with locally sourced produce.
One of my secret spots for the best drinks and sunset is Chiringuito Cala Escondida, nestled within the rocks of Racó den Xic. The beachside hut is minimal as it sits right on the water, but it's literally a front row seat to the most epic sunset you'll ever see. During magic hour, sit on the cala rocks, enjoy freshly shaken cocktails and have the sea gush onto your feet as you watch the sky turn completely pink, yellow and orange.
