Curator’s statement

Amman is a unique place to visit that offers history and culture. If you enjoy history, architecture or just learning about other cultures, this is the place for you. It won't take you long to fall in love with the people and your surroundings. The Citadel, Jerash, Mt. Nebo, Baptism site and the Dead Sea are all within driving distance from Amman. Of course, you can always venture out further like we did. Our family drove out to Wadi Rum, Petra and Aqaba. This requires a bit more travel time. If you love to site see this maybe the place for you.

Things to do in Amman, Jordan

In the summer, Amman can get hot during the day but cool down quickly at night. The city is lit up at night. During the day you will find beautiful white washed buildings on hills surrounding the city.

Must do's on your visit

Experience the sites and sounds of the souks. Go to the Citadel (old city), Amphitheater or the Jordan Museum. Don't forget to visit the famous Rainbow Row. I recommend going just before dinner so you can enjoy shopping. Then head out to a nice dinner.

Day trips

Mt Nebo and Baptism site is on the way to the Dead Sea. You can manage to do all of this in one day. Driving time can take a little over an hour.

Mijana - Amman offers a wide range of middle eastern food. Located on Rainbow Row.

Cantaloupe Gastro Pub - Nightlife after dinner drinks with a beautiful view of the city lights.

Lebanese House - Located in Jerash. This is a good local restaurant that has received great reviews. While you are eating, you can enjoy watching the locals smoke shisha.
