3 Days in Mexico City - Maximizing Your Long Weekend

As a former retail professional, I love to scope out high-quality pieces to add to my collection. While thrifting is my jam stateside, I prefer curated collections when traveling to maximize my vacation. During your long weekend, stop by a few spots.

Vintage

• Vintage Hoe: A small, curated collection in Roma Norte featuring

• Goodbye Folk: The best shop for vintage tees, and my personal favorite, Levi 501s.

• Bicho Community: A vintage shop with a grunge edge. While the location is a bit off the beaten path, I highly recommend stopping by to see their affordable designer bag collection.

Jewelry

• Avec Joyeria: If you make one stop, let it be Avec Joyeria. Their fine and demi-fine jewelry is well priced, unique and locally designed in Mexico City.

• Mvndo Varon: A gorgeous boutique of fashion-forward, high end jewelry designed, once again, in Mexico.

Markets

• La Lagunilla: For the antique enthusiast, check out La Laguinilla for an amazing selection of vintage and antique items, including homewares and jewelry.

• La Ciudadela: Stop by to grab Mexican artesian goods including textiles, garments, and decor.

Brunch

• Lardo: This Roma Norte spot is bustling and for good reason--I'm still dreaming about their Chilaquiles. A gorgeous local seated next to me at the bar ordered gelato which came in a gold chalice. A moment of sheer elegance.

• Grab a coffee and a pastry from the window while you await your table!

• Margot: This hidden terrace awaits For the New Yorkers who survived the cronut era, enjoy the croiffle (croissant-waffle) sans wait.

• Tierra Garat: You'll run into this coffee chain all over the city. This is the perfect spot to get an American-style iced cofee before starting your day's adventure.

Mexican fare

• Tostadas Coyocan: Within Mercado n. 89, this vibrant yellow stall serves fresh tostadas with every imaginable topping. My personal favorite? The chicken tinga served with refreshing coconut juice.

• Tacos La Chula: If you're the only party speaking English, you know you're in the right place. Tacos are $1-3 USD and served with a plethora of sauces. For my vegetarian friends, the cheese quesadilla is elite.

• El Moro: Churros have been served hot from El Moro since 1935. Dip in chocolate or enjoy solo as a sugary afternoon pick-me-up.

Drinks

• La Clandestina: Mezcal is everywhere in Mexico City. La Clandestina is a great first stop--ask to do a tasting of their house-made Mezcal. Wash it down with the Avocado cocktail before your night out.

• Veri Bari: This underground dance spot serves up no fuss beer and tequila. While the drinks are nothing to write home about, the dance floor is not to be missed.
