Curator’s statement
Los Cabos, a sun-drenched paradise where the rugged Baja desert meets the shimmering Sea of Cortez, holds a special place in my heart. Since my first visit in 2004, I've witnessed this region's remarkable transformation, evolving from a hidden gem to a world-class destination. Yet, despite its growth, Los Cabos has managed to retain its magical essence — a perfect blend of natural beauty, rich culture and warm hospitality. As I've returned year after year, I've seen the gradual development of luxurious resorts along the Hotel Corridor, the flourishing of farm-to-table restaurants and the expansion of thrilling outdoor adventures. Now, sharing this beloved destination with my own family, I watch with joy as my teenagers savor both modern and traditional Mexican cuisine, bask on pristine beaches and embark on exhilarating outdoor excursions. Los Cabos continues to captivate visitors of all ages, offering a unique mix of relaxation and adventure against the backdrop of its stunning landscapes. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a longtime devotee like me, Los Cabos promises an unforgettable experience where every return feels like coming home to a constantly evolving paradise.

Things to do in Cabo
Jazz on the Rocks: Jazz on the Rocks combines exceptional musical talent with exquisite dining and stunning visuals. Making it a must-visit destination for jazz enthusiasts and those looking to experience a vibrant nightlife in Los Cabos. This unique venue offers a captivating blend of live jazz music and stunning views of the Cabo San Lucas Arch and the surrounding bay.
Spa at Hotel El Ganzo: Described as a “playground of peaceful healing for mind, body and spirit” I found this spa very accommodating for our group of four adults. They booked us a private spa area under a palapa with a whirlpool sauna and plunge pool for our use before our scheduled massage treatments. The hotel's spa treatments were inspired by nature and tradition, and the surroundings were tranquil and rejuvenating.
Sunset Cruise: Sunset cruises in Cabo San Lucas offer a magical way to experience the breathtaking beauty of the region as day transitions into night. Most sunset cruises sail along the stunning coastline, providing views of iconic landmarks such as El Arco and the beautiful rock formations at Land's End. The picturesque sunsets over the Pacific Ocean create a perfect backdrop for memorable photos.
Surfing Lessons: Most surf schools offer group and private lessons, typically lasting around 2 to 3 hours. They provide all necessary equipment, including boards and wetsuits. Instructors focus on safety, technique and building confidence in the water.
Swim at Playa Santa Maria: A stunning public beach located along the Tourist Corridor in Los Cabos, known for its picturesque setting and tranquil waters. This beach was perfect for our family to relax and unwind and has clean changing facilities onsite.
The Art Walk in San Jose del Cabo: The Plaza Artesanos is a vibrant local market open daily where visitors can find a variety of handmade goods, including rugs, pottery, clothing and jewelry. Along Boulevard Mijares, you'll find a handicraft market featuring vendors selling reasonably priced arts and crafts such as hammocks, handmade toys, ceramics and traditional Mexican items. San José del Cabo is home to numerous art galleries showcasing contemporary Mexican artists. Notable spots include Galeria Corsica, which features works by renowned artists like Jorge Marin and Leonora Carrington.
Whale-watching: The best time for whale watching in Cabo San Lucas is during the winter months, specifically from mid-December to mid-April. This period marks the migration of thousands of whales from their Arctic feeding grounds to the warmer waters of the Baja California Peninsula, where they come to mate and give birth.
Wild Canyon Adventures: Wild Canyon Adventures is a popular adventure park located in the tourist corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. The park offers a wide range of activities including zip lining, bungee jumping, giant swing, ATV and UTV off-road tours, camel rides and horseback riding. Our family experienced the adrenaline-fueled ATV ride to the ocean and back.
Places to eat & drink in Cabo
El Farallon: At the 5-star Waldorf Astoria, this highly rated restaurant is on the rocks of the Pacific Ocean and creates one of the most memorable experiences in Cabo San Lucas.
Sunset Monalisa: For the best sunset views of El Arco while dining, this is where you want to be. For jazz lovers, check out Jazz On The Rocks — also on the same property.
Flora Farms: Excellent for a weekend brunch, this farm-to-table restaurant with live music is a must-do. This unique destination combines agriculture with culinary experiences, featuring Flora’s Field Kitchen, which serves a seasonal menu crafted from the farm's own produce.
Tamarindos: Another farm-to-table restaurant in San Jose del Cabo, Tamarindos is my favorite. Dining is under a palapa roof with the farm surrounding you. Your taste buds will thank you. They can also do cooking classes, which are a lot of fun for couples and groups.
Cocina De Autor: The name translates to “Signature Cuisine” and is the flagship restaurant at the Grand Velas resort. Awarded its first Michelin star in 2024, this restaurant provides a playful tasting menu that celebrates fresh local ingredients.
Acre: Acre is a unique and luxurious resort located in the foothills of San Jose del Cabo. Acre is renowned for its farm-to-table restaurant, which is considered one of the best in Los Cabos. The menu evolves with the seasons and incorporates global influences while using local ingredients.
Comal: This restaurant is part of the Chileno Bay Resort & Residences and offers a dining experience that combines contemporary Mexican cuisine with stunning ocean views. Comal is known for its casual dining atmosphere and features a menu that includes Latin American and seafood dishes.
Manta: Opened in 2016 and led by celebrated chef Enrique Olvera, Manta emphasizes a unique culinary experience. It showcases the flavors of the Pacific coast while incorporating influences from Peruvian and Japanese cuisines.
