This vibrant outdoor museum features large-scale murals by world-renowned street artists. Located in the Wynwood Arts District, it’s perfect for a quick cultural stop. Admission is $12 for adults— tickets can be purchased online.

Bayside Marketplace

An open-air shopping and entertainment complex just minutes from the port, Bayside Marketplace offers waterfront dining, live music and unique shops. Depending on your cruise line, you can drop your bags with porters before boarding and take a free trolley to Bayside to relax or grab a bite. Entry is free, but parking can be pricey, so consider rideshare options.

Places to eat & drink in Miami

Cocktail bars & breweries

Veza Sur Brewing Co.

This Latin-inspired brewery in Wynwood pairs vibrant energy with an impressive lineup of craft beers. Favorites include the crisp Spanglish Lager and micheladas. The welcoming atmosphere often includes food trucks and live music.

The Broken Shaker

Located in the Freehand Miami, this award-winning bar offers expertly crafted, garden-to-glass cocktails in a bohemian courtyard setting. Seasonal ingredients and inventive combinations define the drink menu, ensuring a unique experience with every visit.

Lost Boy Dry Goods

This downtown Miami bar combines a relaxed pub atmosphere with a carefully curated cocktail menu. Standout options include the Eastbound and Down, their smooth and smoky twist on an old-fashioned.

Sugar

Located on the 40th floor of the EAST hotel in Brickell, this rooftop bar offers a lush garden setting with panoramic views of Miami’s skyline and Biscayne Bay. The cocktail menu features elevated creations like the Thai Basil Mojito, perfect for enjoying the sunset.

Pro Tip: Arrive early for prime seating and quieter ambiance.

Dinner

Aba

One of my personal favorites in Miami. Aba, located in Bal Harbour Shops, is a Mediterranean restaurant with a California influence. The menu, crafted by Chef CJ Jacobson, features dishes like Smoky Garlic Hummus, Whipped Feta Spread and Shawarma-spiced skirt steak. The bar program offers rare Mediterranean-inspired wines and spirits.

Zuma Miami

Zuma delivers a sophisticated Japanese izakaya dining experience in downtown Miami. The menu emphasizes bold, modern flavors with highlights like black cod, miso and premium wagyu beef. The sleek waterfront setting adds a touch of elegance to any meal.

Pro Tip: Waterfront tables fill quickly, so reservations are essential.

Versailles Restaurant

A Miami landmark, Versailles is synonymous with authentic Cuban cuisine. Signature dishes such as ropa vieja and lechon asado are served in a lively, classic setting that has defined Cuban dining in the city for decades.

Pro Tip: End your meal with a Cuban coffee and guava pastry for an authentic touch.

Joe’s Stone Crab

A Miami Beach institution since 1913, Joe’s is celebrated for its legendary stone crab claws and exceptional seafood dishes. The key lime pie is also not to be missed. The historic charm and impeccable service make it a must-visit. Pro Tip: Arrive early during peak season, as reservations are not accepted.

Amara at Paraiso

This Biscayne Bay gem pairs stunning waterfront views with a menu that highlights bold Latin American flavors. The ceviche and wood-grilled octopus are standout options, crafted with precision and care.

Pro Tip: Patio seating offers the best views and atmosphere.

Breakfast

GreenStreet Cafe

Located in Coconut Grove, this vibrant cafe serves generous breakfast portions in an alfresco setting. Popular dishes like their fluffy pancakes and eggs Benedict make it a go-to for a hearty start to the day.

B Bistro + Bakery

An elevated breakfast experience in Brickell, B Bistro + Bakery offers indulgent creations like truffle eggs Benedict and guava croissants. Every item on the menu is meticulously crafted for both flavor and presentation.

La Latina

This Midtown eatery serves Venezuelan-inspired breakfast arepas stuffed with fresh ingredients like eggs, cheese and avocado. A unique alternative to traditional breakfast fare, it’s a flavorful way to fuel up.

Need to know

Ensuring a stress-free port experience: Navigating the Miami cruise port can feel overwhelming, especially for first-timers, but a little preparation goes a long way toward a stress-free experience. Here are some essential tips:

Rideshares and hired cars

  • Rideshares (Uber/Lyft): These are one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to get to the cruise terminal. Designated pickup and drop-off points make it convenient, but expect some traffic congestion during peak hours.

  • Private transfers: If you prefer a more personalized option, many hotels and car services offer private transfers directly to the port. This can be particularly useful for families or larger groups with extra luggage.

Pro tip: Some hotels will have complimentary shuttles to the port. Be sure to note this and sign up upon check-in for easy transportation to the port.

Bag drop service

  • Most cruise lines offer a porter service at the terminal. Drop your luggage with the porters upon arrival, and it will be delivered directly to your cabin. Be sure to tip $1–$2 per bag as a courtesy. In some cases, you can drop your bags earlier than your check-in time and take the complimentary trolley to (and from) Bayside Marketplace.

Terminal traffic

  • The Port of Miami is busy, with multiple ships embarking on the same day. Check your cruise line’s terminal number ahead of time to avoid confusion. Signs and port staff will guide you to the correct drop-off area. You can check the port schedule to see how many ships will there on embarkation day.

Prepare a carry-on bag

  • Pack a small carry-on with essentials like travel documents (boarding pass, passport, etc.), medications and a change of clothes. Depending on the cruise line, checked luggage may not arrive at your cabin until later in the day. If you want to enjoy onboard amenities such as the pool, hot tubs or water slides right away, you'll want your bathing suit with you.
