Things to do in Fort Lauderdale

Sunset view through a bridge

Water Taxi

Hop aboard an on/off water taxi and set sail on the scenic Intracoastal Waterway, a picturesque route adorned with boats, modern high rises and celebrity mansions. Enjoy a leisurely cruise or hop off to explore the finest attractions, from dining and drinks to shopping and entertainment.

Riverwalk

Dubbed the “Venice of America” by locals and visitors. The Riverwalk is a waterfront area home to an array of parks, shops, museums, restaurants and nightlife. The lush tropical pedestrian walkways are situated along the New River, complete with picnic areas, gazebos and an array of water activities like kayaking and paddle boarding.

Las Olas Boulevard

At the heart of Fort Lauderdale, just steps from the Riverwalk, lies the vibrant Las Olas Boulevard. An avenue lined with palm trees, this is where the beach meets a captivating hub of fashion boutiques, art galleries and sidewalk cafes.

Ft Lauderdale Beach

This public beach stretches for miles with soft sand and iconic turquoise blue water. It is the perfect place to soak up the sun, read a good book or for those looking for a more adventurous day, there is even surfing and snorkeling.

Bonnet House Museum and Gardens

A 35-acre historic estate on Fort Lauderdale Beach, beautifully blending art, history and nature. Built in 1920 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this whimsically-designed house was once the romantic winter getaway for artists Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett.

Broward Center for the Performing Arts

A spacious multi-venue arts center, situated along the north bank of the New River (Riverwalk area). Hosting over 700 performances annually for more than 700,000 patrons, the center has gained global recognition, ranking among the top ten most-visited theaters worldwide. Artistic partners include Broadway Across America, Florida Grand Opera and Miami City Ballet, to name a few.

Places to eat & drink in Fort Lauderdale

Takato: This Japanese-Korean fusion restaurant features a diverse menu including sushi, sashimi, and various Japanese dishes, providing both indoor and outdoor dining options. Don't miss out on their Angry Chicken appetizer; it was my personal favorite. Additionally, if you're staying at the Conrad Hotel, you can enjoy their highly recommended breakfast here. While reservations are not required, it is recommended to secure a spot for dinner.

Steak 954: This modern yet classic steakhouse caters to both meat and seafood lovers, serving brunch and dinner. With an extensive selection of steaks like filet mignon, ribeye and New York strip, along with delectable sides such as bacon mac and cheese and whipped potatoes, your taste buds are in for a treat. I highly recommend trying the Bourbon Apple French Toast if you are there for brunch.

Lulu’s Bait Shack: Lulu's offers laid-back oceanfront dining with a menu of beach eats and tropical fruity drinks. Situated across from Ft Lauderdale Beach and inside the open-air shopping center of Beach Place, it's an ideal spot for a break from the sun. Flip-flops are always welcome and the unpretentious yet delicious menu includes some of the best crinkle-cut fries I’ve ever had.

Wine & Garden: Nestled just minutes from the beach, Wine & Garden is a delightful Italian restaurant with a cozy garden-style terrace. The menu features a variety of Italian dishes, pizzas, cheese boards and an extensive selection of wine. With an ambiance that can't be matched, this inviting spot provides the perfect setting for a relaxed and delightful dining experience. Don't miss out on their daily happy hour and weekend brunch—it's an absolute must!

Lona Cocina & Tequileria: Experience a contemporary take on traditional Mexican fare at this charming restaurant. From the Baja Fish Tacos to the Pollo Relleno, each dish is designed to bring the vibrant flavors of Mexico to the American food scene. Daily specials include Wine Down Mondays, Taco Tuesdays and Bottomless Beachside Brunch on Sundays.
