Things to do in Glacier National Park

Red bus tours - These famous buses from the 1930's will take you on a tour of the "going to the sun road". These buses are a great way to learn more about the park, as well as see some of the highlights while learning about the history of the area.
Lake McDonald - This stunning lake is a great place to rent a paddle board or kayak and go explore the park on the water.
Glacier Park Boat Tours - These boat tours will take a small group of people out onto one of the lakes and show you more about the area. When we took one, we saw bear cubs along the shore, as well as a bald eagle swoop down and catch a fish in front of the boat. They have tours on Lake McDonald, St. Mary, Two Medicine and Many Glacier areas.
Logan Pass - This is the highest point on the "going to the sun road". The parking lot fills up early because there are so many hiking trails that start here.
Grinnell Glacier - This hiking trail takes you up the famous Grinnell Glacier. It is in the Many Glacier area of the park. This trail is a 5.3 mile out-and-back trail, but there is a boat that travels back and forth along 2 of the lakes that you hike past. It is possible to hop on one of these on your way home if you are getting fatigued from your hike.
Places to eat & drink in Glacier National Park

Historic Glacier Park Lodge - The restaurant in the hotel has great food and the historic, rustic charm of this hotel is worth the visit alone. It was the first hotel built by the great Northern Railway.
Abruzzo Italian Kitchen - This charming Italian restaurant cooks everything including its pasta from scratch each day. It has a small patio out back to enjoy the summer evening air with a delicious pasta after a day of hiking.
Herb and Omni - This elevated dining experience is a place that everyone will find something they enjoy. They source local, quality ingredients to create a fresh, bold menu.
Need to know
When we visited, we saw more wildlife than we ever expected. The list includes black bears and grizzly bears, big horn sheep, mountain goats, marmots, elk, bald eagles and moose.
Also, as a warning, it is very important to carry bear spray with you on hiking trails in the park. The wildlife is all over and it is important for the safety of people and animals alike that we take the appropriate precautions to keep everyone safe and able to enjoy the park.
