Curator’s statement
The glittering Amalfi Coast, the timeless ruins of Pompeii and the iconic Neapolitan pizza may capture the spotlight, but Campania’s countryside offers a charm that’s equally captivating. This fertile land is the unsung hero behind Naples’ culinary delights, from the fresh produce to the celebrated wines that are the pride of its people. This is a dream destination for wine lovers, where history, tradition and modern innovation collide in perfect harmony. Campania’s winemaking legacy dates back to the 12th century BC, making it one of Italy’s oldest and most historic wine regions. The area’s volcanic soils and diverse landscapes give rise to unique grape varietals, both red and white, that reflect its distinctive terrain. From these grapes, the Romans produced Falernum, famed as the greatest wine of antiquity.

Avellino Province
Known for its highly acclaimed DOCG wines like Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Taurasi, Avellino is the crown jewel of Campania's wine regions. Its high-altitude vineyards and volcanic soils produce wines of remarkable character and longevity, loved by connoisseurs worldwide.

Villa Diamante: A boutique winery producing some of the finest Fiano di Avellino. The intimate setting and meticulous attention to detail make their tastings unforgettable.
Mastroberardino Winery: A historic name in Italian winemaking, their guided tours delve into centuries of tradition. Pairing wines with local cheeses elevates the tasting.
Villa Raiano: Located on a stunning hilltop, the views alone are worth the visit. Their modern tasting room enhances the experience.
Greco di Tufo wine:
Cantine di Marzo: The oldest winery in Campania, it offers an unparalleled historical experience alongside its crisp, mineral-driven wines.
Cantine dell ‘Angelo: For a more rustic, authentic experience, this small winery delivers fantastic wines in a cozy atmosphere.

Naples Province
Home to the famous Lacryma Christi wines, Vesuvio boasts a unique terroir thanks to the volcanic soils surrounding Mount Vesuvius. The wines here have a distinct mineral quality, and the region’s proximity to Naples makes it a favorite for wine tourism.
Bosco de Medici Wine Resort: Set near Pompeii, it combines history with top-notch wine experiences.
Cantine Astroni: A winery built into a volcanic crater! Their tours combine geology and winemaking for a unique experience.
Benevento Province
Benevento offers exceptional value wines with a strong focus on indigenous grape varieties like Falanghina and Aglianico. The region's efforts to modernize winemaking while maintaining tradition have made it increasingly popular.

Fattoria La Rivolta: A certified organic winery with a stellar reputation for guided tastings and welcoming staff.
Salerno Province
This region is celebrated for its lush landscapes and smaller-scale wineries producing high-quality wines from Fiano, Aglianico and Piedirosso. While less famous than Avellino or Vesuvius, its charm lies in its artisanal approach and connection to the Mediterranean coast.
Marisa Cuomo Winery: Iconic for its cliffside vineyards overlooking the Amalfi Coast, this is a bucket-list destination for wine and scenery lovers.
San Salvatore 1888 Winery: A modern winery with a strong focus on organic farming and a cozy tasting room.

Campania's wines and grapes guide
White grapes
Fiano: Known for its floral and nutty aromas, Fiano produces complex wines with flavors of honey, citrus and a hint of smokiness. Fiano di Avellino, a DOCG wine, is a standout expression of this varietal.
Greco: An ancient grape variety brought to Italy by the Greeks, thrives in Campania. Wines like Greco di Tufo are vibrant and crisp, with notes of green apple, peach and minerality.
Falanghina: A versatile white grape, Falanghina produces wines with bright acidity and flavors of citrus, apple and tropical fruits. It pairs beautifully with seafood, making it a local favorite.
Red grapes
Aglianico: Dubbed the "Barolo of the South," Aglianico is one of Italy’s finest red grape varieties. Taurasi DOCG wines, made from Aglianico, are bold and structured with flavors of dark fruit, leather and spices.
Piedirosso: Iften blended with Aglianico, Piedirosso produces softer, fruity wines with floral notes and a touch of earthiness. It’s a key component in Lacryma Christi wines from Mount Vesuvius.
