Day 1: Tokyo Exploration

After having arrived at Narita International Airport and using the previous day to get acclimated to the time change, your hotel and surroundings - you are ready to experience the both traditional and modern city of Tokyo!

The first day of your 9 day Japan itinerary promises to be exciting and culturally rich as you embark on a journey through some of Tokyo's iconic landmarks and vibrant neighborhoods. You will visit the Imperial Palace, a symbol of Japan's imperial history and surrounded by lush gardens. The Meijijingu Shrine is a sacred Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Here you'll take in the spiritual ambiance and admire the traditional architecture. Walk the busy streets of Omotesando / Harajuku. Omotesando Avenue is lined with architectural masterpieces and high-end boutiques. It will provide a sophisticated contrast to the youthful energy of Harajuku, where cutting-edge fashion, trendy boutiques and unique street style offer a vibrant and eclectic atmosphere. Finally followed by Aoyama, with its upscale shops, galleries and cafes.

Finish the day in Shibuya district, where you'll experience the pulsating energy of one of Tokyo's busiest and most iconic neighborhoods. At Shibuya Crossing, you'll witness the synchronized chaos of pedestrians converging from all directions, creating a mesmerizing urban spectacle. Neon lights, vibrant nightlife, and diverse entertainment options will cap off an unforgettable day of exploration in the heart of Tokyo.

Day 2: Tokyo Odyssey

Exploring Tokyo through Tsukiji Outer Market, Hamarikyu Garden, Asakusa and Ginza district promises a delightful journey filled with diverse experiences.

You will visit Tsukiji Outer Market. This is an iconic destination renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse array of fresh seafood, fruits and other local delicacies. It is a haven for food enthusiasts. From there, move on to visit Hamarikyu Garden. An exquisite traditional Japanese garden situated near Tokyo Bay. Then you will visit the small streets of Asakusa and walk along Nakamise-dori street until you arrive at the Sensoji Temple. Wander through the historic district and absorb the old-world charm. As you explore Nakamise-dori, a bustling shopping street, you'll encounter an array of traditional souvenirs, snacks and crafts. This lively path will lead you to Sensoji Temple, Tokyo's oldest temple, a religious site but also a cultural landmark that offers a glimpse into Tokyo's past.

Conclude your journey in the upscale Ginza district. Famous for its luxury shopping, dining and entertainment. Ginza is a symbol of modern Tokyo. Explore high-end boutiques, dine in exquisite restaurants and absorb the neon-lit ambiance of this sophisticated area.

Day 3: Hiroshima by Bullet Train

Today, you will travel to Hiroshima by Bullet Train.

Embarking on a journey to Hiroshima by Bullet Train promises an exciting day filled with both adventure and relaxation. The anticipation builds as you board the sleek and high-speed Bullet Train, renowned for its efficiency and comfort. The four-hour train ride offers a unique opportunity to witness the picturesque Japanese landscapes flash by providing a glimpse into the country's beautiful scenery.

Upon reaching Hiroshima, a city known for its rich history and resilience, you'll find yourself surrounded by a blend of modernity and historical significance. The first order of business is to check into your hotel, where you can unwind and freshen up after the exhilarating train ride.

Day 4: A-Bomb Dome

Visit the A-Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, then transfer to Miyajima.

The A-Bomb Dome, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Hiroshima's commitment to peace, is an iconic structure. It stands as a reminder of the devastating events of August 6, 1945. Surrounding the A-Bomb Dome, the Peace Memorial Park offers a serene environment for reflection and remembrance.

After exploring the historical and emotional sites in Hiroshima, the journey continues with a transfer to Miyajima. A picturesque island located in the Seto Inland Sea. Miyajima is famous for its "floating" torii gate at Itsukushima Shrine, which appears to stand in the water during high tide. The shrine itself is known for its beautiful vermillion-colored structures, traditional Japanese architecture and scenic surroundings.

Day 5: Kyoto by Bullet Train

Today, you will be traveling to Kyoto by bullet train. You’re halfway through your 9 day Japan Itinerary! Arriving in Kyoto, a beautiful city with a rich cultural heritage, stunning temples and picturesque landscapes, won’t disappoint!

Day 6: Kyoto Cultural Immersion

Today's itinerary promises a captivating journey through Kyoto, immersing you in the city's rich history and cultural charm.

Start your day at the iconic Kiyomizudera Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site perched on the eastern hills of Kyoto. As you ascend the stone-paved path leading to the temple, you'll be greeted by breathtaking panoramic views of the city.

After your visit to Kiyomizudera, take a leisurely stroll through the charming lanes of Sannenzaka. This historic district is known for its preserved traditional architecture, quaint teahouses and boutique shops. The narrow cobblestone streets evoke a sense of stepping back in time, providing a perfect backdrop for a relaxed exploration of Kyoto's past.

Next on your itinerary is the renowned Fushimi Inari Taisha. Famous for its thousands of vibrant torii gates that form a mesmerizing tunnel leading to the sacred Mount Inari. Then head to Sanjusangendo Hall, a temple renowned for its awe-inspiring collection of 1,001 life-sized statues of Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy. Marvel at the intricate details of these statues as you walk through the long hall. Absorb the spiritual energy that emanates from this centuries-old site.

Conclude your day with a delightful stroll through Gion, Kyoto's historic Geisha district. The narrow streets lined with traditional wooden machiya houses create an enchanting atmosphere. Gion comes to life in the evening. You may choose to explore the local tea houses or enjoy a traditional kaiseki (multi-course) meal at one of the district's renowned restaurants.

Day 7: Kyoto Landmarks and Tranquil Retreats

Today, your itinerary promises a delightful exploration of some of Kyoto's most iconic and serene landmarks.

You will embark on a cultural journey. Start with a visit to the stunning Golden Pavilion, Kinkakuji Temple. It's a Zen Buddhist temple renowned for its breathtaking golden exterior. Take your time to soak in the beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Following your time at Kinkakuji, your next destination is the serene Ryoanji Temple, famous for its Zen rock garden. Ryoanji offers a peaceful atmosphere where you can contemplate the simplicity and balance of the carefully arranged rocks and raked gravel. It's a perfect place for meditation and introspection. From Ryoanji, your journey continues to Tenryu-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Kyoto's most important Zen temples.

After the spiritual experiences at the temples, it's time for a change of scenery. Take a leisurely stroll through the enchanting Bamboo Forests. The towering bamboo groves create a magical atmosphere, and the rustling leaves overhead provide a soothing soundtrack as you meander through the winding paths.

As the day progresses, make your way to the lively Nishiki Market. This bustling marketplace is a food lover's paradise, offering a wide array of fresh produce, local snacks and traditional Kyoto delicacies.

To conclude your day of exploration, head to Nijojo Castle. A historic castle known for its "nightingale floors" that chirp when walked upon, serving as a security feature.

Day 8: Return to Tokyo via Bullet Train

Today marks the culmination of your stay in Kyoto. Prepare to check out from the hotel and embark on a journey to Kyoto Station. The day's agenda is set to bring you back to the vibrant metropolis of Tokyo. The chosen mode of transportation is none other than the renowned Bullet Train, known as the Shinkansen.

As the Bullet Train gracefully glides across the Japanese countryside, you may catch glimpses of Mount Fuji in the distance. It provides a fitting farewell to the scenic beauty that accompanies you throughout your travels.

Arrive at your hotel, relax and then enjoy a nice dinner before returning back home tomorrow.
