Mount Vernon is the cultural heart of Baltimore. Spend the entire weekend here or just the afternoon. High above Mount Vernon Place, the George Washington monument promises a rewarding view for all who climb its 227 steps. This historic square is also home to The Walters Art Museum and what Travel & Leisure have named "the most beautiful library in the world," The George Peabody Library housed within the Peabody Conservatory.
For more off-the-beaten path culture seek out the Edgar Allen Poe House Museum, soak up the history on the cobblestone streets of Fells Point or stroll around The Avenue in Hampden.
