Places to eat & drink in Amsterdam

Amsterdam has an incredible food and beverage scene catering to all tastes. Don't miss out on these local favorites:

  • Glouglou: Cozy wine bar pouring tasty natural wines.

  • Hiding in Plain Sight: Swanky cocktail lounge with innovative craft drinks.

  • Café Gollem Raamsteeg: Quintessential Dutch beer bar with cozy vibes.

  • Proeflokaal Arendsnest: Mecca for Dutch craft beer with 52 on tap and 100+ bottles.

  • Café Twee Prinsen: Laidback spot for natural wines and snacks.

  • Nea Pizza: Arguably the best pizza in the Netherlands using premium seasonal toppings.

  • Kikkie van de Prinsensluis: No-frills dive bar with delicious burgers.

  • Tales & Spirit: Inventive craft cocktails in a speakeasy setting.

  • Café de Ebeling: Lively brown bar where things get wild late night.

  • Bar Mokum: Expertly crafted cocktails, considered among the city's best.

  • Door 74: Clandestine cocktail bar, make a reservation to get the secret location.

  • Kopstootbar Amsterdam: Fun local hangout with a great vibe.

  • Hannekes Boom: Lively waterfront bar, perfect for drinks on a sunny day.

  • Café de Wetering is a quintessential brown bar (a traditional Dutch pub) that exudes old-world charm.

  • Cornerstore is one of my favorite restaurants in the city, highly recommended for its exceptional cuisine.

  • Café Binnenvisser is another trendy and cute spot, but reservations are hard to get, so go right when it opens to put your name in.

For quick bites, grab a cone of hot frites from Fabel Friet, the best Dutch fries in the city. For a true Dutch experience, don't miss out on the iconic herring from Haring & Zo. Contrary to popular belief, Dutch herring is salt-cured, giving it a unique raw finish on the tongue. Pair it with raw chopped onion and pickles for the ultimate Dutch snack. Fromagerie Abraham Kef is a must for cheese lovers. Indulge in a delicious kapsalon (a Dutch creation of fries topped with kebab meat, cheese, and sauces) at Leeman Döner. And be sure to try the Dutch apple pie at Winkel 43.
