Curator’s statement
New Orleans is one of those places that you always hear about, but you can't truly appreciate until you've seen it for yourself. My husband and I went last September for a friend's 40th birthday and, even though we were only there for 48 hours we were able to pack in a lot of fun. There is a mix of old and new, casual and upscale, young and old, and there is definitely no shortage of amazing food and even better music!

Things to do in New Orleans
Cruise around the city with Buzz Nola: see the best that NOLA has to offer on an e-bike tour.
Take an art walk: just walking along Bourbon Street (and the side streets) will overload your senses from every angle, but the art galleries and boutiques could take up an entire day on their own. So many pieces--large and small--to admire and maybe even take home.
Visit the National WW2 Museum: this is noted as one of the best WW2 museums, and once you step inside you'll understand why. Open daily and offering discounts to military families, you should definitely take the time to stop by here.
Listen to jazz music: there are far too many places to name, but you can't walk a block in the French Quarter without hearing incredible singers and musicians.
Enjoy the dueling piano bar at Pat O'Brien's: what's not to love about a dueling piano bar with cold drinks, A/C and super-talented musicians??
Rejuvenate with a mobile IV: this might seem like an odd addition, but if the heat or the late nights take a toll on you, call this company to come to your hotel for a quick IV drip and you'll be good as new.
Visit Jackson Square: it overlooks the Mississippi River, is chock-full of local artists with their work on display, and you can check out St. Louis Cathedral before walking along the waterfront.
Take a cruise on the Creole Queen: what is more quintessential NOLA than cruising down the Mississippi on a riverboat? Multiple options for times and types--a great way to see the city!
Places to eat & drink in New Orleans
Mosquito Supper Club: this is a pre-paid restaurant, but I promise it's worth it. You can't leave here without trying their potato salad. You can also buy a copy of their cookbook and try making all of their dishes at home.
Mister Mao's: this cool, quirky restaurant has amazing global flavors and is just steps away from great local music.
Cafe du Monde: a no-brainer to stop by one of the many locations for hot, fresh beignets. The location at the New Orleans Museum of Art is particularly cool.
Pat O'Brien's: take a few steps off of Bourbon Street, grab an outdoor table and enjoy a world-famous Hurricane.
The Gumbo Shop: tucked in between shops and bars, it's easy to walk right past The Gumbo Shop, but I promise you'll regret it if you do. Part restaurant, part open-air courtyard, this place has killer gumbo, jambalaya, and Bloody Marys.
Bar Marilou: this super swanky speakeasy is attached to Maison de la Luz and services beautifully hand-crafted drinks and small bites. If you're staying at the hotel, you can enter through a secret door!
Trenasse: This posh restaurant is located inside the InterContinental hotel and is open for lunch and dinner and a weekend brunch. They serve oysters all day every day, too.
Pluck Wine Bar + Restaurant: great spot for great wines!
True Food Kitchen: if you're looking for something a little more health-conscious but still with tons of flavor, then stop by this spot for any meal (or snack!)
