The town of Holland, Michigan, is one of my favorite getaways for the weekend, especially in the Fall! The scenery is beautiful, and you have the opportunity to explore beautiful outdoor spots like Holland State Park and Windmill Island Gardens, perfect for hiking and enjoying the cool air. The downtown area features cute shops, cozy cafes and local restaurants, making it ideal for a casual walk. Fall festivals, like the Holland Harvest Festival, add to the fun with local food, crafts and live music. Plus, you’ll find a variety of dining options, from cozy diners to breweries, ensuring delicious meals after a day of exploring. With its friendly, small-town vibe, Holland is the perfect spot for a relaxed fall weekend escape!

Things to do in Holland, Michigan

Explore the Windmill Island Gardens: Take a walk along the river, learn about the Dutch settlers, climb to the top of the windmill and take pictures, enjoy the beautiful gardens and eat delicious food from the food truck. As you head out, you can also visit the shops with traditional Dutch products, including souvenirs and various cheeses.

Holland State Park: Head to Holland State Park for some fresh air and beautiful views of Lake Michigan. Hike the trails, enjoy a picnic or just walk along the sandy beach of the lake. Don’t forget to check out the Big Red Lighthouse.

Downtown Holland: Wander around downtown Holland to explore unique shops, art galleries, restaurants and cozy cafes. Grab a coffee, do some window shopping and soak in the local culture. If you visit in October, you can also check out the cool pumpkin carvings and other Halloween happenings.

Saugatuck Dunes State Park: Just a short drive away, this park offers scenic trails through dunes and forests, providing breathtaking views and a chance to see the fall colors up close.

The Curragh: An Irish pub offering hearty dishes and a cozy atmosphere. Their menu features traditional Irish fare and a great selection of beers.

Salt & Pepper Savory Grill and Pub: A local favorite, this spot serves American cuisine with a twist, featuring fresh ingredients and a warm ambiance.
