Advisor - Enchanting Views of Lisbon
Curator’s statement

The rumors are true — Lisbon is absolutely enchanting. From the moment you arrive, the city wraps you in a warm embrace, making you feel right at home. As a solo traveler, I was struck by how safe and comfortable I felt, even when venturing out at night. The locals’ hospitality is second to none, the cuisine is a feast for the senses and the city’s sights are truly unforgettable. One tip you’ll hear from every Lisbon visitor, and it’s worth repeating: pack your walking shoes and prepare for those iconic hills!

Things to do in Lisbon

  • Explore LX Factory: Visit this transformed industrial complex, now a hub for creative local shops, restaurants and art.

  • Ride the iconic tram: Allow for extra time as the lines can get long, but a trip on the tram is something you must experience (and can really save you when those legs get tired).

  • Check out Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara: This park sits at the edge of a hill with sweeping views, and if you're lucky, you'll catch local artists playing music.

  • Ride the Santa Justa Elevator: Experience this unique 19th-century lift, where you'll get panoramic views of downtown Lisbon.

  • Visit São Jorge Castle: This medieval castle has my favorite views of the city! Get there early to beat the crowds.

  • Walk the city: Grab your most comfortable shoes, and head out for an adventure. The best parts of the city are discovered when you have no plan.

  • Explore the Alfama District: Wander through the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon, known for its vibrant Fado music scene.

  • Catch the sunset at a rooftop bar: I had the pleasure of staying at The Lumiares Hotel, which has a breathtaking rooftop bar with delicious food!

  • Visit Belém Tower: Explore this 16th-century fortification that once guarded the city's harbor and now serves as a symbol of Lisbon's maritime heritage.

  • Take a day trip to Cascais: an easy train ride away is the beautiful coastal town of Cascais, absolutely worth the visit!

  • SEM: This award-winning spot serves up seasonal favorites, all with a focus on zero waste.

  • Santa Joana: A newer restaurant with Portuguese favorites. Be sure to book ahead.

  • Copenhagen Coffee Lab: If you're looking for excellent coffee, this is it!

  • Leonetta: This Italian gem is tucked away in an unassuming street, some of the best pasta in Lisbon!

  • Black Sheep: This cozy spot offers up some of the best Portugal wines.

  • Hygge Kaffe: Come for the good vibes, stay for the amazing breakfast!
