Things to do in London

Buckingham Palace

There are endless sites to explore in London. Most are welcome to babies and toddlers, and some are specifically tailored for them. Here’s an overview of the top ways to enjoy your time in London.

London Pass: One of the best ways to explore the main sites in London is through the London Pass. You can purchase a pass in advance by the day, and there is an app that helps you navigate top destinations, opening times and any need-to-know details. Kids under the age of five are free, so you can bring them along to any of the sites you’re visiting.

Top sites

Some of the most popular sites include Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Borough Market, Kensington Palace, Big Ben, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Shard and the London Eye.

  • Hyde Park & Regent’s Park: One of the best family-friendly parts of London is Hyde Park and neighboring Regent’s Park. There is plenty of open green space to take a leisurely stroll, or let the kids run around. The London Zoo is also located within Regent’s Park.

  • Shopping: Be sure to visit Hamley’s Toy Store and the toy displays at Harrod’s.

  • Museums: There are a few museums in London that are especially interesting. For young kids, visit the Natural History Museum, London Transport Museum, Young V&A and the Science Museum.

  • Special experiences: If you’re open to venturing slightly outside of London, there are a few fantastic spots to visit with babies or toddlers. The Horniman Museum & Gardens is an anthropological museum set on 16 acres of land, and it offers many kid-focused workshops. For all Harry Potter fans, the Harry Potter Experience is an immersive activity for the whole family.

London travel tips (baby/toddler-focused)

  • Rooms and cribs: Most hotels will provide cribs as a complimentary service, as long as the room is spacious enough to fit it. As your travel advisor, I’ll take care of that planning component and also advise on which hotels have large enough rooms to accommodate a crib.

  • Getting around: Bring a travel-stroller that can easily fold up to ride the tube. I personally varied between using the stroller, as well as baby-wearing with a carrier, depending on our activity.

  • Changing tables: Most public restrooms have baby-changing tables. In a pub, this will usually be in the accessible bathroom, so you just need to ask the staff for a key.

Places to eat & drink in London

Peter Pan Afternoon Tea

  • Breakfast at your hotel: We preferred starting our day with breakfast at the hotel. That way, we could stop back in the room to change baby and grab our gear before heading out for the day. And of course, this is made better by Fora’s partnerships with a plethora of hotels where daily breakfast is complimentary.

  • Peter Pan Afternoon Tea: Located in Aqua Shard with panoramic views of the Thames River and London Bridge, this dining experience is so special. The classic British high tea is customized with charming elements from Peter Pan. This is the perfect way to combine a meal at an upscale restaurant with a family-friendly ambiance. Note: reservations are required, and there is a prix-fixe menu.

  • Local Pubs: There are countless local pubs throughout London, and contrary to the name, most are family-friendly restaurants throughout the day. It’s the perfect place to rest midday for a casual meal, without needing a reservation.

  • Borough Market & Camden Market: Both of these indoor/outdoor markets offer a variety of cuisine and dining vendors. Take a stroll and sample food in a casual setting.
