Things to do on the Central Coast
Carmel Beach - Carmel Beach is located right near downtown Carmel so you don’t have to go far! It is dog-friendly with soft sand and beautiful blue waters. I highly recommend taking a picnic lunch to enjoy this amazing beach!
Drive Highway 1 - Highway 1 is one of the most beautiful roadways in the world. Stop along the way to take some photos and go on some amazing hikes!
McWay Falls Trail - This is literally a waterfall that flows into the ocean, what more could you ask for? This is a quick hike, not difficult at all — and you are rewarded with breathtaking views. It does get very busy in the afternoons and on weekends, so I recommend arriving as early as possible, as there is limited parking. McWay Falls is the perfect ending point on Highway 1 before heading back.
Monterey Bay Aquarium - Rated one of the best aquariums in the world, Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must-visit. It is a nonprofit aquarium that focuses on rehabilitation and preservation, so you can feel good about where your money is going!
17 Mile Drive - This drive connects Monterey to Carmel and boasts gorgeous ocean views. Pass famous golf courses, mansions, amazing beaches and the 5,300-acre Del Monte Forest of Monterey Cypress trees.
Downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea - Carmel has to be one of the cutest and most quaint towns in the world. Carmel is known for their storybook, fairytale cottages, built by Hugh Comstock in the late 1920s. Eleven of the original 21 cottages still standing are found in the downtown Carmel area, which is also filled with cute shops, bakeries, restaurants and adorable hidden alleyways.
Kayaking Monterey Bay - Monterey Bay is filled with wildlife, making it a perfect place to kayak. You will often see seals, sea lions, sea otters, brown pelicans and sometimes even whales and dolphins!
Play golf - If you are into golf, Carmel is the place to do it — the PGA AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am takes place here every year. Playing golf with the gorgeous ocean right beside you? Yes!
