Curator’s statement

Miami is one of my favorite US destinations. Turquoise waters and white sand beaches, warm tropical vibes, great for adults and kids, home to some of my all-time favorite restaurants and a wonderful art/design/cultural scene. Plus, throw in the pastel tones and art-deco architecture, and I am one happy traveler!

Things to do in Miami

Hit the Beach
Let's be honest, half of the reason you're heading to Miami is to soak up the sun, sand, and warm turquoise waters. Whether you're lounging in a deck chair by the pool or sprawled out on the beach, it's guaranteed fun for the whole family. Picture the kids spending hours swimming and playing in the sand as you sip on a piña colada with a good book in hand. For me, this is time well spent in Miami.

Art, Architecture & Design
In between pool sessions, immerse yourself in the vibrant art and design culture that thrives in Miami. Explore Wynwood, a gentrified area of Miami, now home to great food and a thriving art scene, for a unique art experience. Head to Wynwood Walls and be amazed by the colorful murals and street art.

Wander through the picturesque Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, a stunning Italian Renaissance-style villa nestled in the Coconut Grove area of Miami. This historical estate is a true gem, surrounded by lush gardens and subtropical forest along the shores of Biscayne Bay.

Stroll along Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue between 5th Street and 23rd Street, in South Beach, admiring the iconic art deco architecture in their shades of pastel colors.

For a different perspective of the city, hit the water and hire a boat for the afternoon. It's a great way to watch the sunset over the city skyline, creating unforgettable memories

Day Trips:

For a change of scenery, venture to Everglades National Park, where you can explore the unique ecosystem of the Florida Everglades. Take an airboat ride, spot wildlife like alligators and birds, and immerse yourself in nature's beauty.

If you're up for a scenic drive, consider heading down to the Florida Keys. While the full drive to Key West can take around 4 hours, you don't need to do the full round trip to experience the best of the Florida Keys. Stop for a bite to eat in Key Largo at Mrs. Mac’s Kitchen, even if it's just for a slice of their key lime pie and a coffee.

Kids will enjoy feeding the fish at Robbie’s of Islamorada, and spotting the numerous quirky mailboxes throughout the drive. Once you've crossed the iconic Seven Mile Bridge, take some time to pause for a swim and immerse yourself in the laid-back vibe of the Keys - consider stopping at Sandspur Beach at the end of the Seven Mile Bridge.

End your day trip with a relaxed early dinner while watching the spectacular sunset over the water at Morada Bay. For a more elegant dining experience, consider trying Pierre’s Restaurant next door.

Places to eat & drink in Miami

An elevated, lavender-colored life guard hut on Miami beach.

There are a few restaurants I have eaten at around the world that I will continue to go back to time and time again, and Miami has a couple of them.

For a contemporary Argentinian experience, be sure to book Los Fuegos by Francis Mallmann at the Faena. I can’t go past Mallmann’s Beef Tenderloin Milanesa, and I personally love sitting inside to soak up the vibrant atmosphere.

For my favorite Mediterranean meal, book a table outside at the Bib Gourmand awarded Mandolin Aegean Bistro. The setting whisks you away to the Greek Islands and the food is just delicious.

You won't be disappointed at Cote Korean Steakhouse - it's a great interactive experience, and Michelin-starred.

Cecconis at Soho House - head here for a classic Italian meal in a beautiful setting.

Where to eat in the Florida Keys

Mrs. Mac’s Kitchen (the little one) - this rustic restaurant has been around since 1976. It’s no frills food and a fun experience.

Morada Bay - beautiful relaxed setting on the sand.

Pierre’s Restaurant - if Morada Bay is a little too relaxed for your taste!
