Day 5: Aswan
Highlights
Check-in to your luxurious Nile River boat.
Visit the stunning island Temple of Philae.
Sail in a gorgeous felucca boat on the Nile River (another favorite of mine!)
Today is the day you start your Nile River cruise!
After breakfast at your Aswan hotel, you’ll be transferred to your Nile River boat, which will be your home for the next few nights. You’ll be amazed by the boat’s comfortable rooms and incredible food.
And the day’s excitement has just begun! After lunch on the boat, join your Egyptologist and tour coordinator to see the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae.
Because the obelisk was abandoned due to cracks, its unfinished nature allows your Egyptologist to show you fascinating insights about ancient Egyptian stone-working techniques.
Next, travel by a small boat to the stunning island Temple of Philae. To save the complex from Nile River dam flooding, the entire complex was dismantled into about 40,000 pieces and moved from its original island to its current island location in the 1970s.
You’ll then visit the Aswan High Dam, which was constructed in the 1960s in an effort to protect against flooding and droughts.
To wrap up an amazing day, you’ll enjoy another favorite of mine— a peaceful sail in a gorgeous felucca boat along the Nile River.
Tonight, savor dinner on board the boat before getting a wonderful night’s sleep.
Day 6: Kom Ombo & Edfu
Highlights
Explore the unique “double” temple at Kom Ombo, dedicated to two deities.
Visit the most well-preserved temple in Egypt, the Temple of Horus.
Watch an amazing sunset over the Nile River from your boat’s upper deck.
Today, after a lovely breakfast on-board, journey with your Egyptologist and tour coordinator to Kom Ombo Temple.
Your Egyptologist will take you through this incredible temple. It is unique because it is dedicated to two different deities, the crocodile-headed god Sobek and the falcon-headed god Horus the Elder.
After lunch and a short sail on the boat, hop off with your Egyptologist and tour coordinator for a visit to the Temple of Horus at Edfu. This temple is the most well-preserved ancient temple in all of Egypt.
See detailed hieroglyphics carved into the stone walls. Pose with the enormous statue of the falcon-headed Horus. And wander through the ancient stone chambers, in awe of the detailed designs.
Back on the boat, relax on the upper deck as you watch the sun set slowly over the Nile River. It’s truly a surreal experience.
After a great day exploring, enjoy a delicious dinner on board.

After an incredible breakfast on the boat, start your action-packed day to explore Luxor’s East and West Banks.
Your Egyptologist and tour coordinator will first take you to the West Bank to explore the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut.
The Valley of the Kings served as the burial location for pharaohs for over 500 years. Here, you’ll get the chance to see the tomb and mummy of Tutankhamun.
Then journey to the temple of female pharaoh Hatshepsut. The temple has three massive terraces that back into towering cliffs. It is considered a masterpiece of ancient architecture.
You’ll then enjoy lunch on board the boat.
After lunch, your Egyptologist and tour coordinator will take you to shore to explore the Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple on Luxor’s East Bank.

For this portion of the trip, you’ll go to the scenic resort area of Hurghada. You’ll spend three amazing nights there at your leisure. Here are some examples of amazing activities you can enjoy during your stay:
Diving in the Red Sea: This is my personal favorite activity in Hurghada. The Red Sea has beautiful coral, colorful fish, and interesting seascapes. There are many dive shops in Hurghada that offer beginning to advanced diving experiences.
