Curator’s statement

I was born in South Africa, so maybe I am biased, but Cape Town is my favorite city in the world. With gorgeous mountain and sea views, incredible food, and a lively atmosphere - what more could you wish for from a city? See below all of my favourite spots in Cape Town.

Things to do in Cape Town

A sight of penguins at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town, Cape Town.

I could fill up a whole book writing about my favourite experiences in Cape Town, but for the sake of this guide I am going to keep it brief. See below for my favorite spots!

HIKING

LION'S HEAD - This is a favorite hike and an absolute must in Cape Town. The views of Table Mountain are incredible! The hike is short and takes approx. 90 minutes to reach the top.

TABLE MOUNTAIN - There are two ways to summit Table Mountain, either via Cable Car or hiking. For those that want to hike there are a plethora of routes to take, so contact me to plan the best one for your ability.

BEACHES

CLIFTON - There are four Clifton beaches. Clifton 1 (the most difficult to reach, so naturally the quieter of the four beaches), Clifton 2 (the longest of the four beaches), Clifton 3 (a favorite amongst the LGBTQ+ community), and Clifton 4 (the most popular of the four beaches as it's the most accessible).

CAMPS BAY BEACH - As one of the trendiest beaches in Cape Town, it's naturally one of my favorrites. Camps Bay Beach is located within walking distance of Camps Bay, which is a bustling neighborhood comprised of restaurants, clubs, and hotels.

BOULDERS BEACH - If you have heard of South Africa then my guess is you have heard of the beach with the penguins. This is Boulders Beach located in Simon's Town.

MUIZENBERG - As a surfer, I couldn't write a guide and not mention Cape Town's best surfing beach Muizenberg. Not necessarily one of the prettiest beaches that Cape Town has to offer, but the colored beach huts are famous.

EXPERIENCES

KIRSTENBOSCH BOTANICAL GARDEN - Famous for being "one of the great botanical gardens of the world." When you are planning a trip to Cape Town, my insider's tip is to look at what concerts are on.

ROBBEN ISLAND - South Africa's Alcatraz. This island, which used to be a prison and is now a museum, is famous due to Nelson Mandela.
