Things to do in Santorini
Sunsets in Oia: To see and feel the best sunsets in Santorini, you must go to Oia and watch them from the main street or from one of the bars facing the sunset. Make sure to get there at least half an hour before so you can enjoy the whole spectacle.
Sunset dinner in Ammoudi: Ammoudi is a fishing village below Oia known for its fresh seafood. It has the most uninterrupted view of the sunset while you are at the edge of the sea. It has many dinner options but make sure you get a good table. From here you can get to Oia by taxi or by the stairs; I recommend you grab a taxi unless you want a real and very demanding hike all the way up.
Stroll through Oia from sunset till late: Oia is also known for being the least touristy place in Santorini and once you get there you’ll understand why. The boutiques, the cafes and the views are really something special. So make sure you go with plenty of time to shop and stroll through this charming area.
Perissa Beach; Also known as Black Sand Beach, this is one of the most unique beaches I’ve seen! It really is something special to see the contrast between the black sand and the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. There are plenty of beach clubs you can visit and enjoy a full day of relaxing, eating and swimming. Make sure you book in advance as they tend to get really crowded.
Sunset catamaran: This is one of the most popular and romantic things to do here. Either you take a full-day catamaran or a half day — it’s your choice! I recommend you go later in the day, so you avoid the hottest hours and also grab a glimpse of the sunset from the sea. If you’re going with a group of friends, I recommend booking the private charter.
Visit Fira: Fira is the most popular place in Santorini because all the cruises anchor here. There is a funicular that takes you from the port to Fira or all the way around. So be sure to go from sunset onwards to avoid the most crowded hours. Unlike Oia, Fira is bigger, and more tourist minded. Still, it is a very beautiful place to wander around their streets and boutiques. Here you can enjoy the view of the volcano.
Red Beach: Another unique beach in Santorini and a bit more complicated to get than Perissa Beach. The best way to get here is by boat so you can enjoy the beautiful landscape and swim in the turquoise waters. Arriving by car is a bit complicated because you have to go by foot all the way down and it's very steep so be mindful of this if you plan to arrive this way. There’s only one beach club so make sure you have everything you need to make the best stay.
Beach clubs in Perissa:
Frati Santorini: Italians meet the Aegean Sea. This beach club offers a more private, boutique experience if you want to enjoy and relax on this beach. Their sunbeds and cabanas are amazing and very comfortable.
Wet Stories: Definitely one of the most popular spots in Perissa. It's a bit on the pricey side and since they've gotten very famous on social media you need to make reservations in advance. It's a very chic place.
Forty-One Beach: Right next to Frati Beachclub, this club is chicer and more modern. It's a nice place to spend the day feeling like a celebrity.
Day trips:
Catamaran day trip, private or shared
Snorkeling and scuba diving tours
Places to eat & drink in Santorini
Sunset Ammoudi: The best spot to dine in Ammoudi. They serve the freshest seafood, and the views are to die for! All the staff are very friendly, and they will try to get everything you need in order to have the best experience. I recommend you book in advance and get on the top floor so you can enjoy the view with no obstacles. Reserve roughly an hour before the sunset for the best experience.
Kaliya Restaurant: This restaurant in Fira is the go-to place in Santorini! The place itself is beautiful but the food is on another level. Make sure to book on the terrace to have the best experience.
Thalami Restaurant and Bistro: The Thalami has two options — the restaurant, which is a Mediterranean-style menu, and the bistro, which is Italian. If you want an incredible view but don’t mind an average dinner, go for the bistro. If you want to have a delicious meal, opt for the restaurant.
Nectar: One of the best places to have breakfast in case you missed the one from the hotel.
Roka by Zuma: Located inside Cavoo Tagoo, this place is a go to if you want a more Asian-inspired dining experience. Sister of the renowned Zuma Restaurant and with a view like no other, it is a very unique experience in Santorini.
Mia’s: This place locally sources all of its products to give you a more authentic and local experience. The caldera view is breathtaking.
Barolo: This option in Fira has an amazing view of the volcano and its surrounded by the beautiful white traditional buildings. You’ll feel very relaxed while having one of the most delicious meals.
Selene: One of the oldest restaurants in Santorini. They serve only unique and local flavors to honor this amazing island.
