Curator’s statement
Santorini, with its breathtaking views and rich culture, was the first stop on my cruising adventure as I was working on a cruise ship. Here’s a glimpse of what made this trip unforgettable.
Getting there, we arrived on a Celebrity cruise, an easy and comfortable way to reach the island. As we sailed closer, the anticipation of exploring Santorini’s cliffs and villages grew.

Things to do in Santorini

Exploring by boat our group rented a large wooden boat that could accommodate 7 to 11 people, complete with a driver. This gave us the freedom to sail along the island and take in the rugged coastline. The views of Santorini’s Rocky Mountains and the dazzling night lights from the water were simply magical.
Island Adventures We explored the island by both donkey and the electronic lift, each offering a unique way to ascend the cliffs. The top revealed charming streets, beautiful architecture and a vibrant local culture.

A taste of Santorini: Must-try traditional dishes
One of the most unforgettable parts of my Santorini experience was the food. The island’s cuisine is full of fresh ingredients, bold flavors and unique local specialties. Here are some must-try dishes:
Grilled Fish & Seafood: Freshly caught and cooked to perfection, often served with olive oil, lemon and local herbs. Octopus and fried calamari are also island favorites.
Tomatokeftedes: Crispy tomato fritters made from Santorini’s famous sun-dried cherry tomatoes, packed with flavor.
Moussaka: A classic Greek comfort dish with layers of eggplant, minced meat and rich béchamel sauce.
Fava: A smooth yellow split pea puree, often topped with onions, capers and olive oil — one of Santorini’s signature dishes.
Saganaki: A pan-fried cheese dish, usually served with honey for a delicious mix of savory and sweet.
Each dish tells a story of Santorini’s history and traditions. Whether dining in a seaside taverna or enjoying a meal with a sunset view, the island’s food is an experience in itself.
