Day 1: Starting at Spokane Falls
Spokane
When heading to Washington, I recommend beginning your adventure in Spokane. Nestled in the heart of the inland Northwest, Spokane, Washington, is the second largest city in Washington.
Start your journey in Riverfront Park, where the roaring Spokane Falls sets the scene for a picturesque day. Take a leisurely stroll through the park's vibrant meadows and charming bridges.
For a dose of culture, explore the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, immersing yourself in the region's rich history.
Cap off your day with a visit to the historic downtown, where eclectic shops and local eateries await.
Day 2: Lake Coeur d'Alene
Coeur d’Alene
While in Spokane, don't miss the enchanting detour to Coeur d'Alene, just a quick 30-minute drive away in neighboring Idaho. This idyllic town beckons with postcard-worthy vistas and an array of charming shops.
A stroll along the lakeside promenade offers breathtaking views of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Explore the town's quaint boutiques and art galleries, indulging in the local flair.
Day 3: A Scenic Drive to Seattle
Seattle Drive
Begin your day by heading west. Seattle is going to be your base for the remainder of your adventure. A morning drive from Spokane to Seattle promises about a four-hour journey, placing you in the city just in time for lunch.
Waste no time in heading to the iconic Pike Place Market, a vibrant immersion into Seattle's rich culture. This farmers market has something for everyone. Beyond indulging in delectable local cuisine with a waterfront view, you'll discover an array of treasures from artisanal jewelry to exquisite honey.
Day 4: Hiking at Mount Rainier National Park
Mount Rainier National Park
Break up your days in the city by taking a drive over to Mount Rainier National Park. The park offers a spectrum of hiking adventures catering to all levels of enthusiasts.
For those seeking an easy yet picturesque trail, the Nisqually Vista Loop is a delightful choice. This family-friendly jaunt provides stunning views of the Nisqually Glacier without breaking a sweat.
For the more seasoned hiker craving a challenge, the Skyline Trail awaits. This intermediate-to-difficult trek unveils sweeping panoramas of Rainier's icy glaciers, subalpine meadows, and rugged peaks. Make sure to conquer the Panorama Point section for an Instagram-worthy vista that makes the ascent entirely worthwhile.
Day 5: City Exploration and the Space Needle
Seattle
Today is your final day exploring the big city. Indulge in a warm cup of coffee to kickstart your day. As the birthplace of modern coffee culture, the city invites you to explore its diverse caffeine landscape. Start your journey at the renowned Starbucks Reserve for a truly upscale coffee experience. For the true coffee aficionado, consider turning your morning into a flavorful adventure by joining a guided coffee tour.
A trip to Seattle would not be complete without seeing the views from the Space Needle. You will have 360-degree views 500 feet off the ground. The panoramic backdrop includes the city’s skyline and breathtaking views of Puget Sound and the surrounding mountains. I would suggest timing your accent to the top of the Space Needle around sunset. Being able to see the sunset over Seattle on a clear day is like no other.
