Things to do on the East Coast
Killington/Pico Ski Resort - Vermont
Beginner – Advanced
Known as the “The Beast of the East” for a reason, one of the best ski resorts east coast, Killington Mountain has been the home of the Audi FIFI Ski World Cup for the last several years, has a beautiful new lodge with fireplaces and plenty of lounge seating and the best snowmaking capabilities in the East. This best ski resorts east coast continues to cultivate an inclusive, family-friendly ski or rider culture and environment. With its varied terrain, you will never get bored. The ski school is amazing for those that are ‘learn to ski or snowboard’, with multiple terrain parks, day care on site, complimentary shuttle bus and many dining options on slopes and off. All of this makes the ski destination perfect for every type of skier or rider.
PRO TIP: Have young teens or adolescents that want to ski by themselves but want to keep them close? Head over to the backside of Killington Mountain to Pico Mountain (a 20-minute drive from Killington Mountain). It's full of mostly manageable blue diamond trails that lead to one centralized area so you will always end up in the same place.
Mont Tremblant – Québec, Canada
Beginner – Advanced
If you are looking for the ultimate best ski resorts on the east coast, look no further than one of my favorites, Mont Tremblant. While this is outside of the United States, it is on the east coast; this resort has a European ski luxury vibe without leaving the continent. Endless après ski entertainment (including a new waterpark, unlimited snow sports, virtual reality arcade and casino), exquisite dining options and shopping all in the pedestrian village, Mont Tremblant is sure to deliver a uniquely elevated ski and snowboard experience for all!
Stowe Mountain Resort – Vermont
Intermediate – Advanced – Adventure (Unpatrolled backcountry)
Heading to Northern Vermont, is Stowe Mountain Resort, located in the quintessential small town of Stowe, Vermont. It's home to the highest peak in Vermont. With its famed heritage, Stowe Mountain Resort is the picture-perfect destination for those skiers or riders looking for a premium experience. With the wraparound Spruce Peak village, visitors will experience high-end shops, entertainment and amazing farm-to-table restaurants, a welcome vibe after hitting the slopes. Stowe Mountain is family-friendly and has options for those non-skiers as well.
PRO TIP: Craving some good old-fashioned New England Ski trails and open glades? Pop over to Smuggler’s Notch, just less than 60 minutes around Mount Mansfield. Book a night or two at the resort and enjoy both mountains in one weekend!
Sugarloaf Resort – Maine
Novice – Advanced – Adventure (patrolled backcountry)
As the largest ski and snowboard mountain in Maine, Sugarloaf Mountain features varied terrain, several new trails and glades in its recent expansion. This mountain is skier or snowboarders paradise in terms of variety and trail complexity. Its self-contained resort includes a developing village, expanding trails and several new restaurant additions. If you are looking for a fully immersive ski or rider experience without extras, Sugarloaf Resort is for you!
PRO TIP: If you are an experienced skier or snowboarder looking for adventure, make a reservation to experience CAT Skiing on Burnt Mountain at Sugarloaf.
