Things to do in Oahu, Hawai'i

RENT A CAR! You will need a car to explore the island. You are not going to be able to truly experience Oahu without a car!

Beaches: Waikiki Beach, Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach, Banzai Pipeline to swim, surf, or relax!

Hikes: Makapuʻu Lighthouse and Tide Pools Trail, Diamond Head, Manoa Falls Trail, Lanikai Pillbox Hike, Koko Crater Trail, Stairway to Heaven - find more information about the trails on AllTrails. Hiking is Ohau is a 10/10 experience.

History: Visit Pearl Harbor where you can pay homage to the USS Arizona Memorial and gain insight into the events of World War II.

Activities: Visit the Dole Plantation to learn about the pineapple experience, drive to the North Shore to explore the north end of the island, snorkel at Hanauma Bay, visit the Polynesian Cultural Center to experience authentic dances, crafts and cuisine from across the Pacific Islands.

Places to eat & drink in Oahu, Hawai'i

North Shore: Giovanni's Shrimp Truck, Seven Brothers, Hale'iwa Beach House, Matsumoto Shave Ice. The North Shore is filled with food trucks and a variety of restaurants - you won't be disappointed!

Waikiki: Leonard's Bakery - famous malassadas and other pastries, Hula Dog Kuhio - Hawaiian style hot dogs. Lulu's Waikiki, Hula Grill Waikiki - walking distance in town with great food, drinks and atmosphere.

You must sample local favorites like poke, kalua pork and shaved ice, and be sure to try a refreshing mai tai or coconut water straight from the source! Most food is served with macaroni salad and rice.

Also hit up McDonald's to experience the Hawaiian style breakfast - Spam Breakfast Plate - that includes spam, rice and eggs!
