Insider travel tips
Best time to visit: Spring (March–May) and Fall (September–November) offer the most pleasant weather for exploring Marrakech and the surrounding areas. Summers can be very hot, especially in the desert.
Currency and tipping: Morocco uses the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). While credit cards are accepted at many hotels and restaurants, it’s helpful to carry cash for souks and smaller vendors.
Tipping is customary: 10–15 percent at restaurants and a small amount for guides, drivers and hotel staff.
Dress code: Pack modest, breathable clothing to respect local customs, especially when visiting religious sites. A scarf or shawl is handy for covering shoulders when needed.
Language: French and Arabic are widely spoken. Learn a few phrases like "Shukran" (thank you) to connect with locals. English is common in tourist areas.
