Things to do in Todos Santos

Originally founded as a mission in the 18th century, the town's name was derived from the ohíge, a palm tree that grows abundantly in the area. For centuries, it remained a small, quiet farming and fishing community, until the arrival of European and American artists in the 1980s.

Drawn to the area's stunning natural beauty, these artists started to settle in Todos Santos and brought their art with them. Today, the town is teeming with galleries, studios, and art workshops showcasing a diverse range of works - from traditional Mexican folk art to contemporary pieces.

One of the must-visit places in Todos Santos is the Galería de Todos Santos, which features a mix of established and emerging local artists. It's also home to the annual Todos Santos Art Festival, where artists from all over the world come to showcase and sell their work. The Centro Cultural Todosanteros, a community art center, also hosts events and exhibits throughout the year.

Aside from its vibrant art scene, there's so much to see and do in Todos Santos. Take a stroll along the colorful streets, and you'll find yourself captivated by the town's unique architecture and charming shops filled with local handicrafts and souvenirs. The beach is also a popular spot for surfing, swimming, and whale watching. And for those looking for a taste of authentic Mexican cuisine, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from, serving up delicious dishes made with fresh, local ingredients.
