Day 1: Arrival in San José
You’ll land at the San Jose Mineta Intl Airport (SJO)
Visit the National Museum of Costa Rica. Learn about the country's history and culture. You can also take a guided tour to visit the historic buildings of San Jose.
Hike around La Paz Waterfall.
Head to the local shops around downtown to pick up souvenirs, local crafts and more.
Day 2: Transfer to La Fortuna
In the morning or afternoon, transfer 3 hours up to La Fortuna. Hire transportation, use a shuttle or grab a rental car. Your advisor, Kaylee, can help you decide which is best for you.
Horseback ride around a local farm taking in the views of the volcano and the farms of the locals.
Day 3: Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna
Embark on a guided hike in Arenal Volcano National Park to witness the majestic volcano and enjoy the scenic beauty. ATV adventures are another popular way to explore Arenal.
Relax in the natural hot springs of Tabacon or Baldi Natural hot springs to unwind after the hike. Each boasts multiple pools and lounging areas throughout the property.
Day 4: Transfer to Monteverde
Take a boat ride/tour across the river to Monteverde, home of the Iconic Cloud Forest. Spot wildlife along the way!
Visit the Butterfly Gardens.
In the evening, take a guided tour through the forest to spot nocturnal animals hiding in the trees.
Day 5: Monteverde Cloud Forest
Take a guided tour through the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and discover the incredible biodiversity.
Thrill seekers can experience the thrill of ziplining through the forest canopy for an exhilarating adventure.
Day 6: Transfer to San Jose
Head back into San Jose, but the adventure isn’t over yet…
Take a coffee plantation and chocolate tour and taste the local flavors.
Spend your last evening exploring the vibrant nightlife of San Jose. Hop on a nightlife tour bus, or just see where the night takes you!
Day 7: Departure or optional extension
If departing, make sure to get to the airport with plenty of time to check in and pass through security. Spend the flight home reminiscing about your rainforest adventures, and start planning your next visit to Costa Rica!

Need to know
1. Currency: The official currency of Costa Rica is the Costa Rican Colón (CRC). US dollars are widely accepted in most tourist areas, but it's advisable to carry local currency for smaller establishments and rural areas.
2. Language: Spanish is the official language of Costa Rica. While many locals speak English, especially in tourist areas, it's helpful to learn a few basic Spanish phrases.
3. Safety: Costa Rica is generally safe, but it's wise to take precautions like anywhere else. Avoid displaying expensive items, use reliable transportation and be cautious in secluded areas.
4. Climate: Costa Rica experiences a tropical climate with two seasons — dry (December to April) and rainy (May to November). Pack lightweight clothing, rain gear and comfortable shoes for outdoor activities.
