Curator’s statement

Did I call my parents after my first Solo Trip to San Diego and say I'm going to move here one day? Yes, yes I did! I've been here for over eight years and I continue to find new ways to fall in love with the city! San Diego has incredible weather, the Mexican food is top notch and this city has more speakeasies than I think I'm aware of. San Diego should be a must on your bucket list!

Things to do in San Diego

Where to catch the Sunset

Kate Sessions Park: Pack yourself a picnic and catch the sunset in Pacific Beach. You'll experience amazing views of the ocean and downtown San Diego.

Windansea Beach: Located in the quiet community of Bird Rock. You'll be surrounded by incredible real estate while overlooking the endless waters of the Pacific.

Sunset Cliffs: It wouldn't be a conversation on sunsets without mentioning the iconic Sunset Cliffs located in Point Loma.

Farmers Market

North Park Farmers Market: North Park is a diverse and eclectic uptown neighborhood. Once you are in the neighborhood, you won't want to leave.

Hillcrest Farmers Market: Hillcrest is home to San Diego's LGBTQ+ community. This farmers market is my favorite offers an array of food, produce and fresh flowers.

Kobey's Swap Meet

Outdoor flea market with vendors selling all sorts of items. It's super fun to walk around and check it all out.

Activities

USS Midway: A historical naval aircraft carrier museum that sits in the San Diego Bay. Even if you aren't a history buff, it is a really interesting experience for all ages.

San Diego Safari Park: Located about 45 minutes north of San Diego. Truly feels like you are on Safari.

San Diego Hop On Hop Off Trolley Tour: This is a great way to see a lot of San Diego in a short amount of time.

Hiking: There are so many trails San Diego has to offer, but a moderately easy one is Torrey Pines. You also get incredible views of the cliffs.

Padre's Game: If you are in San Diego during the baseball season, I highly recommend checking out one of the best baseball stadiums. The food is top notch too!

Day trip to Temecula!

Check out nearly 50 wineries.

Take a Hot Air Balloon ride.

If you are into ghosts, there are also haunted tours available.

Make sure to grab lunch at Maurice Car'rie Winery and get the fresh baked brie sourdough bowl!

Get yourself a drink

Eppig Brewing Waterfront: This waterfront biergarten has an amazing view of Downtown San Diego.

Part Time Lover: From the outside, you'd think you were walking into a record store. However, you'll walk into a moody cocktail bar that happens to have a record store in the back.

Young Blood: This is the most unique speakeasy I've been to. There is no menu. You will receive four drinks in total. One being a complimentary glass of champagne to start. The bartender will come over and ask what you like and don't like. The next thing you know they've created a cocktail just for you. Must have a reservation!

Waterfront Bar: Located in Little Italy is San Diego's oldest tavern.

Let's eat

Tabu Shabu: Traditional Japanese Hot Pot. I am regular at this place. I've introduced many friends to it and they've continued to thank me for the recommendation.

South Beach Bar and Grille: You'll get amazing views of the ocean while experiencing the culture of Ocean Beach. This place has my favorite Fish Tacos. It also wouldn't be a trip to San Diego without tacos!

The Friendly Tavern: The place you go when you need a greasy smash burger. A tourist is not going to stumble upon this place. This is insider information!

Herb & Wood: Every time I've been here I've been blown away. The combination of flavors the chef has put together is just amazing. Great for a date night!

Handel's Ice Cream: Just thank me later!
