Curator’s statement
If you know me, you know I love Scandinavia. I can't get enough of it. But until recently, I had somehow never been to Stockholm. I can say it out loud now... Stockholm is my new favorite city (move over, Paris)! It combines a classic European feel with innovative, sleek design sensibilities, an amazing food scene, the most resplendent nature right in its backyard, and the friendliest people. You can get a taste of it in three days, but if you give yourself a week, you'll really be able to immerse yourself in all it has to offer.

Things to do in Stockholm
Vasa Museum
See the world's best preserved 17th-century war ship, the Vasa, in all of its glory. More than 98% of the ship on display is original! The most visited museum in all of Scandinavia, this has to be top of your list on any trip to Stockholm.
Gamla Stan (Old Town)
Where Stockholm's city was founded in the 13th century, you'll pass by the Royal Palace, see the small squares and narrow alleys, and admire beautiful 16th-century architecture. There are any cafés, restaurants and small shops located here, as well as the Nobel Prize Museum.
Nobel Prize Museum
Illustrating a century of creativity, visitors can follow the changes of the 20th century through the Nobel Prize and the Nobel Prize laureates. Explore the work and the ideas of more than 900 creative minds presented through short films, original artifacts and computers.
ABBA Museum
This might be the most exhilarating experience in all of Stockholm. I am not exaggerating when I say you will laugh, dance, sing and feel genuine joy at this interactive museum that is perfection for guests of all ages - it is a do-not-miss!
Fotografiska
The original location, housing culture, cool and sustainability in a 1906 Customs House. Fotografiska features rotating exhibits, an homage to all living artists that have exhibited there, and a commitment to honoring both the traditions and envelope-pushing elements of photography. And an amazing restaurant (more below).
Rosendals Trägård
For almost forty years, Rosendals’ Garden Foundation has cultivated and spread biodynamic farming practices. A beautiful garden visit can be combined with a delicious farm to fork meal; the harvest of vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruits are used in the café and woodfired bakery.
Visit the Archipelago
It is impossible to believe your proximity to one of the world's best cities when you're immersed in the glorious nature of the Archipelago. You can spend several nights staying on the Archipelago, or just one day island-hopping on a boat, visiting independent, small-batch producers (Beer! Cheese! Chocolate! Coffee!), visiting a local B&B for a kanelbullar cooking class, taking a hike or just dining at a beautiful waterfront cafe before you head back to the city.
Gröna Lund
The oldest Amusement Park in Sweden and one of the oldest in the entire world (since 1886!) Gröna Lund is a perfect outing for kids of all ages, featuring 30 rides and a killer view of the city.
Shopping
No visit to Stockholm is complete without a visit to Svenskt Tenn, the Swedish stalwart for Interior Design and Homewares. The most exemplary textiles, table settings, furniture, homewares and even jewelry can be found at the Stockholm flagship location, home to the brand since 1927.
Also a must for the avid shopper, NK is Stockholm's bastion of Swedish and International brands, serving up fashion, accessories, cosmetics and more in its opulent department store.
Day Trips:
No trip to Stockholm is complete without a day (or a few nights!) on the Archipelago, a cluster of over 30,000 islands just beyond the city.
Places to eat and drink in Stockholm
Villa Dagmar
A truly exceptional Michelin-recommended meal. Everything about this boutique hotel is impressive, and the restaurant is no exception. A Mediterranean menu that also somehow seems to reflect modern Swedish cuisine, the food is elevated, refined and the wine pairings are off the charts. Their signature lemon dessert is the stuff of fantasy.
Ӧstermalms Saluhall
Opened in 1888, newly renovated as of 2020, Ӧstermalms Saluhall is one of the world's top rated food halls. Over 20 vendors, ranging from bakery to confectionary to proper Michelin-recommended restaurants can be found here.
Fotografiska
Awarded a Michelin Green Star, the largely plant-based menu is radically innovative and insanely delicious. Served with a side of the best views of Stockholm of any restaurant in the city.

Rosendals Garden Cafe
This organically certified lunch/brunch spot highlights their own biodynamically grown produce and bread from the on-site artisan bakery. There are wonderful gluten-free options as well.
Restaurant Frantzén
Sweden's only 3-Michelin-starred restaurant, the food here is elegant, grounded in modern Nordic cuisine with influences from Japan. A once-in-a-lifetime meal that moves you through all three floors of the restaurant during your experience.
freyja
Ingredient-driven, seasonal Swedish cuisine, freyja bills itself as serving "straightforward" food, but I beg to differ - the food combinations and the drinks are uniquely creative and above all, everything tastes fantastic. Contemporary art and music are a big part of the experience here, as are the views from the penthouse location (check out the rooftop bar for stunning 360-degree views of Stockholm).
Grillska Huset Bageri och Brödbod
The perfect stop for Fika in Gamla Stan, with cozy, old-fashioned interiors and a killer princess cake by the slice.
