My dad was born in Prague so visiting family is always a favorite trip of ours, but visiting at Christmas is such a special experience. Prague at Christmas is a magical time with their Christmas Markets, decorations and lights and traditional Czech Christmas customs. You also get to miss the peak tourist season that floods Prague in the summers!

Things to do in Prague
Christmas markets- Prague hosts several Christmas markets, the most famous being at Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. These markets feature traditional handicrafts and local food and drinks. Make sure to leave some room in your suitcase for souvenirs!
Ice skating - During the Christmas season, there are usually outdoor ice-skating rinks set up in various parts of Prague.
Experience a traditional Czech Christmas - Czechs celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve with a big meal of carp and potato salad. Make sure to make a Christmas Eve reservation at one of the few open restaurants!
Attend a Christmas concert - Experience the magic of Christmas music by attending a Christmas concert or opera. Many venues host special Christmas performances featuring classical music and traditional Czech carols.
Visit one of the churches - Prague is home to many churches and cathedrals, such as St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague Castle and St. Nicholas Church in the Lesser Town.
Prague Castle - Visit Prague Castle for panoramic views of the city and enjoy the decorations around the castle.
Go on a river cruise - See Prague from a different perspective by taking a cruise on the Vltava River. Many operators offer Christmas-themed cruises with dinner or drinks.
Charles Bridge - Take the time to walk across this famous bridge and grab a Trdelník on your way.
Day Trips:
Kutná Hora is an easy day trip from Prague. Make sure to stop by the Sedlec Ossuary and St Barbara's Cathedral. Don't miss out on lunch at Restaurant Dačický!

Lokál Dlouhááá - Longest beer hall in Czech with a hearty traditional menu.
U modré kachničky II - Charming restaurant with fantastic food and wine.
Smíchovský radniční sklípek - A local cellar style tavern with great roasted pork knuckle.
Bredovský Dvůr - Great spot for a beer and traditional Czech food after attending the opera.
U Červeného páva - Traditional Czech food.
Restaurace Mincovna - Traditional dinner in the heart of old town.
Sia -If you want something other than traditional Czech cuisine, this is a great Asian restaurant.
