24 hours in Istanbul

Aerial-view-city-istanbul-travel-guide

If you have just 24 hours to explore this incredible city, here are some recommendations to make the most of your short visit:

  1. Hagia Sophia: This is one of the main sights to see in Istanbul. It was once a church and now a mosque. Marvel at its stunning dome and mosaics.

  2. Sultan Ahmed Mosque: Right across from Hagia Sophia, you’ll find this mosque. You can admire its intricate blue tiles and impressive architecture.

  3. Basilica Cistern: An underground water reservoir built during the Byzantine era. The dimly lit atmosphere and rows of ancient columns create a unique atmosphere.

  4. Hippodrome of Constantinople: This is near the Blue Mosque. This was once a center of fun and entertainment during the Byzantine Empire.

  5. Grand Bazaar: One of the oldest and largest covered bazaars. There is thousands of stores in the bazaar. It is very frequented among tourists. Whether you want to buy or just walk through, it’s definitely an experience.

  6. Galata Tower: Visit Galata Tower for its panoramic views of Istanbul.
