Here's my guide to 48 hours in New York City's Meatpacking District. Although I couldn't stay longer, I would recommend extending your NYC trip longer than 48 hours. This is your quick insider breakdown guide Meatpacking District edition. This young fun, fashion-focused area is a must-see and stay area.

Things to do in New York City

While exploring and shopping around the Meatpacking district, I popped into (now one of my favorite spots) Aubi & Ramsa Ice Cream Bar. Yes, you read that right, Ice Cream Bar, you can either get a 3.7oz single or a 16oz Pint. This alcohol-infused ice cream comes in multiple flavors. My favorite is the Espresso Martini (Note you must be 21)!

Shopping! The Meatpacking District is filled with high-end shopping, and you can shop until you drop here.

If you don't know by now, I am an avid Harry Potter enthusiast. On Broadway Street there is a three-level store filled head-to-toe fan favorites and you can even clench your thirst with some butter beer.

Places to eat & drink in New York City

Across the street from my hotel was the stunning RH store. This location has a restaurant on the top level and would definitely recommend stopping in to this stunning atmosphere for a glass of bubbly and an afternoon bite.

Staying at the Gansevoort Hotel, the rooftop bar has awesome cocktails and the small bites are perfect for a mid-day snack or a stop before a work happy hour. Also attached to the Gansevoort Hotel, The Chester restaurant surprised me with outstanding dishes... I still dream about their chicken.

Walking distance from the hotel, stop in to Bathtub Gin, a charming speakeasy. Insider tip: They do have a dress code. I saw them turn away multiple people in sandals, so if you are visiting during the warmer months, close toe shoes or open toe heels are advisable.

Although a taxi ride away from the meatpacking district, a tradition of mine is to pop into The Plaza Hotel for a cocktail.

Need to know

For my early bird gets the worm people, note that the Gansevoort's kitchen is not 24/7, so they don't have coffee or breakfast items ready until 7:00am during the week and 7:30am on the weekend. But, have no fear, there is a Starbucks a stone-toss away if you need your coffee fix before 7:00am.
