Curator’s statement
I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in this magical medieval city, and it truly captured my heart. Granada blends the rich Arabic influences from its history with the vibrant culture of southern Spain, offering a unique and unforgettable experience. Despite its small size, the city is packed with amazing food, fascinating history and a lively nightlife. Granada is a hidden gem, with a welcoming charm that makes you feel right at home. While Madrid and Barcelona often steal the spotlight, Granada is a must-visit destination that also serves as a perfect gateway to other cities in southern Spain.

Things to do in Granada

Granada has something for everyone. Even if you’re not a history enthusiast, I highly recommend booking a guided tour of the Alhambra. This breathtaking palace isn’t just an architectural marvel, it tells a rich story and offers a fascinating glimpse into the city’s past. Granada’s history is shaped by a blend of Jewish, Arabic and Christian influences, making it a truly unique place to explore. Don’t miss wandering through the old Jewish Quarter, where the narrow streets and charming alleys take you back in time. Granada is an incredibly walkable city, perfect for getting lost and discovering its hidden beauty around every corner.
Alhambra Ticket
A beautiful garden to visit near the Alhambra is called Carmen de los martires.
Granada offers some of the best sunsets, here are some of my favorite spots that I would recommend:
-Mirador San Miguel
-Mirador San Nicholas
-Mirador Sacromonte
It's also a one of a kind experience to see the highlights of the Sacromonte neighborhood, which is where you can view a traditional authentic flamenco experience inside of a cave, something unique to Granada.
To be able to partake in the Arab history of Granada, one experience to do is the Arab baths and tea houses: Arab baths, La Tetería del Bañuelo (teahouse).
One of my favorite ways to explore the city is walking around and a famous path to take is Paseo de los Tristes.
Another must-do in Granada is taking a cooking class. I’ve had the pleasure of taking the same class three times, and each experience was unforgettable. It's called CookEleGranada and Anabel, the instructor, brings a perfect balance of professionalism and warmth, making you feel right at home in her kitchen. She offers classes in both English and Spanish, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and engaged. The best part? You get to actively participate in preparing the meal, and at the end, you come together to enjoy one of the best dishes of your trip — one you helped create!
For those who want to participate in the active nightlife of the city:
Discotecas (Clubs):
-G10
-Mae West
-Basaba
Day trips
Sierra Nevada, Malaga, Nerja
Places to eat & drink in Granada

Something that Granada is notoriously known for is its food. Something special about this city is when you order a beverage, you get a free tapa. I mean what could be more exciting than that! Also PLEASE order Tinto de Verano for your drink of choice!
There are so many to choose from, but here are my favorites:
Tapas/dinner:
-Rosario Valeria
-La tabernilla del Darro
-Carmela
Los Italianos - The best gelato!!
Be like a local Spaniard and indulge with churros and chocolate at Cafe Futbol.
Bars:
-B Heaven (rooftop bar)
-Hanalei Cocktail Bar
-La Gintoneria
-Chupiteria
