Day 1: Arrive in Mexico City

Check into your hotel and take a leisurely stroll to Sax Polanco, where you can savor an appetizer and cocktail. Enjoy some of the best people-watching from a charming, shaded patio. Afterward, meander along Presidente Masaryk Avenue, the most affluent street in Polanco, renowned for its luxury shopping.

Return to your hotel for a refreshing break before dinner. We have a reservation at Rosa Negra Polanco, where the atmosphere is electric, and the architecture is visually stunning. The food was exquisite, with the octopus appetizer being our favorite of the evening, though the DJ truly stole the show for me. After dinner, we made our way to Kennedy Social Room for a bit of dancing and a nightcap, capping off a delightful night.

Day 2: Food tour

We hit the ground running, catching Ubers to the vibrant La Condesa neighborhood to meet our tour guide from Eat Like A Local, a fantastic women-owned Mexican company I highly recommend. Astid had us navigating the subway and indulging in delicious green cilantro chorizo tacos from the flower market in no time. The sheer amount of food we were meant to enjoy was nothing short of astounding. Fortunately, the tour involved hours of walking, immersing us in a cultural melting pot filled with food, flowers, trinkets, spices, and hidden treasures.

After wrapping up the tour, we quickly returned to the hotel to freshen up for our night out in the Roma Norte neighborhood. Supra Roma bar was the perfect spot for some laid-back conversation and cocktails as we relaxed our feet. Once we finished our pre-dinner drinks, we made our way to Blanco Colima. It’s hard to describe the captivating blend of casual elegance and invigorating atmosphere that characterizes the bars and restaurants in Mexico City.

Day 3: Frida Kahlo Museum and Floating Gardens

Decorated and colorful entrance of the Frida Kahlo Museum

We began our day with an early morning stroll through the charming streets of Polanco, followed by a light breakfast before taking a quick Uber ride to Coyoacán. There, we queued up for our pre-purchased tickets to the iconic Blue House, more commonly known as the Frida Kahlo Museum.

Once we finished exploring, we treated ourselves to tacos and refreshing beverages from a street cart vendor before hopping another Uber to the breathtaking Floating Gardens, or Xochimilco Boats, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is truly a must-see. As we floated through the picturesque waterways, we savored delicious food and drinks while enjoying the perfect 78° weather and the sounds of various musicians serenading us from nearby boats.

To avoid the evening rush hour, we decided to wrap up our ride a bit early. After a quick regroup at the hotel, we headed out to Toledo Rooftop in Juárez. There, we relaxed, enjoyed the DJ’s tunes and chatted over a delightful dinner, perfectly concluding our third night in the city.

Day 4: Explore CDMX on foot

On our final day, we embraced our inner tourists and explored the vibrant streets of CDMX on foot. Our first stop was the majestic Chapultepec Castle, where we soaked in stunning views and rich history. Next, we ventured to the National Museum of Anthropology, marveling at its impressive collection of artifacts that tell the story of Mexico’s diverse heritage.

In the afternoon, we indulged in some well-deserved relaxation at the hotel's spa, rejuvenating our bodies and minds. To cap off our time in the city, we dined at Maximo Bistrot, savoring the exquisite flavors that made our last night truly memorable.

Day 5: Last day

We enjoyed our final complimentary breakfast at the hotel before heading to the airport to explore the lounge. Though there were many excursions and experiences we didn’t get to check off our list, it gives us the perfect excuse to return for another adventure!

Need to know

A common misconception about Mexico City is that it's a beach destination. In reality, CDMX is landlocked and boasts no beaches at all. It's a vibrant city, much like New York City, filled with cultural experiences and urban adventures. So, leave the swimsuits, sunscreen, wide-brimmed hats and flip-flops at home — you won’t need them here!
