Things to do in Taipei, Taiwan

Catch a great view of the city: head over to Xiangshan, or Elephant Mountain, and climb 600 steps to get a postcard-perfect picture of the Taipei skyline.
Visit the 228 Memorial Park: Take a stroll through this beautiful park dating back to 1908. Catch a glimpse of the 228 Memorial Monument dedicated to the incident that took place in February 1947 - read more about it here.
Explore the National Palace Museum: This large museum features an extensive collection of Chinese art and artifacts. It is one of the largest in the world!
Stroll through the old district: Dihua Street gives a great glimpse into what life used to look like in Taipei.
Admire fine art at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum: enjoy this grand collection of contemporary Taiwanese & international art.
Enjoy the nightlife: One of the best things to do in Taipei is soak in the colors, sounds, tastes and smells of a night market. Check out Ningxia, Linxiang or Shilin Night Market.
Visit one of the country's creative parks: several older buildings around Taiwan have been transformed into something new. Songshan Cultural and Creative Park is a great example of this — this former tobacco warehouse is now home to local artists, shops and more.
Explore a temple: Lungshan Temple is one of the most popular temples in Taipei, and for good reason. This stunning temple was built in the 1700s and features colorful artwork honoring Taoist and Buddhist deities.
Places to eat & drink in Taipei, Taiwan

Street food: There is no shortage of excellent street food options in Taipei. Keep an eye out for popular dishes like scallion pancakes, beef noodle soup and minced pork rice.
Night markets: As mentioned above, there is no better place to get a feel for Taipei than at a night market. Sample some local delicacies such as octopus balls, bubble tea, stinky tofu and more.
Din Tai Fung: This globally-recognized, Michelin-starred dumpling restaurant started here in Taiwan — the soup dumplings are a must!
Halal Chinese Beef Noodles: For over 60 years, this local institution has served up delicious beef noodle soup using only fresh, never-frozen Taiwanese beef.
Alchemy: Often named Taipei's best speakeasy, this is the perfect spot to unwind with a cocktail.
EMBERS: Perfect for a special occasion, this Michelin-starred restaurant features a 12-course chef's tasting menu. Reservations recommended.
Izmir Turk Kitchen: This tasty spot has a great selection of meze and Turkish street food favorites.
Mosun Teppanyaki: Highly rated and loved by many, this festive joint is perfect for a night out with friends.
