Curator’s statement
One of my favorite places on earth is New York City — specifically, Manhattan. I lived in the city during the amazing “Sex and the City” time period, and I still have such a romantic vision of it, even if it’s not always at its best. So, when it comes to celebrating something, I quite often opt for Manhattan. There’s a lot to do and great places to stay and you can pack a lot into one small island over a short time.

Day 1: Focus on food & drink

After checking into your hotel, take a stroll, or a cab ride, to The Brandy Library. This place is incredible! It has an old-style club feel to it with richly appointed couches and chairs, along with a wall-long bar. But don't miss the eye candy here: three walls filled, floor to ceiling, with various types of spirits. It's mostly whisky, bourbon and brandy from all over the world, but there were oodles of other spirits to choose from and the menu was incredibly extensive. Have a bite to eat while you opt for a flight or one of their unbelievable cocktails. Make a reservation — it’s not a large space, so you really want to have a spot when you arrive. You could spend the night here and never see everything!
Make your way to the Club Room at The SoHo Grand for some fantastic jazz in a room that transports you to New Orleans. It’s clubby and warm and the music is within reach. The sound is fabulous and you feel like you’re a million miles away from the house music playing right outside the club! But when you’re done with the jazz, go check that out — the drinks and people-watching are great!
Day 2: Shopping & The Met

Take some time to have a light breakfast at the hotel before heading out for the day. Start with some serious high-end window shopping — or real shopping. Check out the under-construction Louis Vuitton store on the corner of 5th Ave and 57th Street. It’s most certainly Instagrammable. The actual store is across the street during this time, and it’s also spectacular. There is luxury everywhere you turn.
When you’re finished there, keep moving around the area — you can head into Tiffany, Bergdorf Goodman, Chanel or Breitling for watches. There is so much to enjoy, even if you’re not buying. There are even Ferrari and Aston Martin showrooms nearby as well, and those are always a treat to see.
Next, make a reservation for High Tea at The Whitby Hotel and spend a good 90 minutes or longer lingering over delicious scones, sandwiches and delectable desserts. For an added cost, you can opt for a glass of champagne with your meal as well! Highly suggested.
At this stage, you’re likely a little tired from all the walking, but you’re also pretty full from the tea service. Now it’s time to stroll — no need to race — up 5th Ave to The Met Museum. Select, in advance, a semi-private tour with a guide. For more than two hours, you’ll be privy to some of the most interesting information about the museum collection that you never knew, from who gifted certain wings or exhibits to the museum to how the Temple of Dendur actually came to the museum. Even if you’ve been here before, you’ll not regret learning more from a guide about this incredible 16-acre museum inside Central Park. We booked one through an online tour company and it was so very worth it.
You’ll require a taxi or Uber at this stage — you’ll be exhausted! But it’s time for dinner. Head back to your hotel area for something great, check out the Antique Garage in SoHo, or try one of my Tribeca favorites: the incredible Mexican restaurant Casa Carmen Tribeca.
Day 3: Shopping in SoHo

After breakfast at the hotel, go shopping at the small boutiques in SoHo or just head home.
