Things to do in the French Riviera
The south of France, particularly the French Riviera, is a beautiful region. Stop by its idyllic little towns and its charming beaches to truly enjoy the glamor of the coast.
Beaches:
The main beach in St. Tropez is Plage de Pampelonne, where you can find turquoise blue water and dozens of lively beach clubs and restaurants. The Plage de la Baie des Milliardaires is one of the more private and secluded public beaches in Antibes, which lies on a beautiful peninsula near Cannes. This is the perfect beach for cliff jumping. Looking for a gorgeous beach, amazing for lounging under beach chairs and umbrellas with an expansive view of the surrounding bay? Take a trip out to Plage de Passable, in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Finally, if you’re in Cannes, Plage Mace is very convenient and lively (and free).
Nature-based adventures:
The Provence lavender fields are a true natural wonder. These iconic lavender fields bloom from mid-June to mid-August. Make your way to the rolling hills, and enjoy a picnic among their lovely scent. The Gorges du Verdon, one of Europe's largest canyons, with a bright blue river running through, is another easy day trip from Nice. It's perfect for hiking and water sports.
Romantic viewpoints / hikes:
Looking to head high? Take the short hike uphill from the old town in Cannes to a scenic viewpoint at Place de la Castre, overlooking the city and the Mediterranean Sea. You can also head out to Vieux Éze, one of the highest viewpoints in the French Riviera, with gorgeous vegetation and a serene view of the Mediterranean.
A note from Fora
Take a day trip to Monaco to explore the famous Monte Carlo Casino, Royal Palace, Port Hercule and many more sights. If you’re looking for a more local city, take a trip to Marseille for a unique city feel.
