Curator’s statement

I recently did a familiarization trip to Aspen with Fora HQ and a team of advisors and had the best time. Aspen's small-town charm surprised me, especially considering the abundance of restaurants rivaling a big city. It caters to everyone, even those who aren't skiers or outdoor enthusiasts. What brought us all together at the end of the day were the restaurants and bars at our hotels, and that is why this guide is special to me.

Places to eat & drink in Aspen

The image shows a group of individuals seated around a dining table filled in a luxurious restaurant with food, engaging in a meal together.

Aspen's restaurant and bar scene is immense, but for a truly special experience, consider dining at some of our favorite hotels. Here's a list of some of the best places to dine, drink and people-watch in Aspen:

  • Bad Harriet at Hotel Jerome

  • Bad Harriet has an incredible cocktail program for any type of mood you’re in. The ambiance is great. The room is cozy and the decor is charming. They offer many non-alcoholic varieties as well if you’re in that mood too. As a Michelin Key hotel, you know your experience will be memorable here.

  • Ajay Tavern at The Little Nell

  • This mountainside restaurant is the perfect place for après-ski relaxation with a side of people-watching. Favorites include the largest order of truffle fries I have ever seen and the most delicious grilled cheese + tomato soup combo.

  • The Wine Cellar at The Little Nell

  • Did you know The Little Nell has a private dining and tasting space with over 20,000 wines? You can enjoy a super-exclusive private dinner with your friends and try out hand-selected wines from the many sommeliers at The Little Nell. If you are interested in booking this experience, ask me how to assist.

  • The Snow Lodge at The St. Regis Aspen

  • If you are looking for a day party with world-renowned DJs, an apres-ski lounge or an Italian restaurant, you’ve come to the right place. You may find yourself spending an entire day at The Snow Lodge, but it will be well worth the experience. The Snow Lodge is from the team behind Montauk’s hotspot, The Surf Lodge, so you know you will have an amazing time here.

  • Restaurant and Bar at MOLLIE Aspen

  • The rooftop bar may not be open yet, but the food & drinks at the lobby restaurant at this 1 Michelin Key hotel are outstanding. The restaurant has a cozy fireplace and an outdoor patio with a firepit, which makes it feel very homey. The MOLLIE burger, crudo, sausage bites and cocktails were all standouts.

  • J-Bar at Hotel Jerome

  • If you're looking for a place to unwind after a day of exploring Aspen, J-Bar is the place. This historic bar, established in 1889, boasts an ambiance that reflects Aspen's rich history. Go for the food and drinks, stay for the new friendships.

If you’re a true foodie, visit Aspen during their annual FOOD & WINE Classic that is held in June. You’ll be sure to have a great time!
