Curator’s statement
One of the most unforgettable trips I’ve ever taken was a safari in Kenya. I thought it would be amazing to see lions, elephants, giraffes, and more close to nature. But the reality was much better than I expected. My safari guide shared profound insights into the animals, their endangered status, the circle of life, and the richness of Kenyan culture. Beginning in Nairobi, I ventured to three reserves across Kenya. I enjoyed exhilarating morning and evening game drives and experienced the breathtaking landscape from above in a hot air balloon ride. I learned about the Maasai Village through their personal stories. The experience left an everlasting impression on me.

Things to do in Kenya
Things to see
Maasai Mara National Reserve: Located in the southwest of Kenya, this reserve is one of Africa's most iconic wildlife sanctuaries. A game drive here offers you the chance to see giraffes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, and more! It is a must-visit on your trip! During my trip, I spotted four of the Big Five African animals in this park alone.
Amboseli National Park is famous for its amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro and its large herds of elephants that roam free. It is a place that will stay with you for a long time. The sheer number of elephants I saw was remarkable.
Nairobi National Park: This unique park offers a rare view as the backdrop is the city skyline of Nairobi. If you are in Kenya to see the endangered black rhino and complete your Big Five sighting, this is the park to visit.
Hot Air Balloon Ride over the Maasai Mara: Experience an extraordinary safari from the sky in a hot air balloon ride at sunrise. The views cannot be beat.
Mirror of Hope Foundation: Visit this inspiring non-profit organization. They provide educational scholarships and mentoring to people living in the slums of Kenya. It provided them with an opportunity to lift themselves out of hardship.
Sheldrick Elephant Rehabilitation: This center is a must-visit for anyone who loves elephants! You can watch baby elephants learn about their rescue and rehabilitation. You can even adopt an elephant and stay connected with their journey from home.
Mt Kilimanjaro: Although located in Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro can be spotted from certain areas in Kenya, particularly from Amboseli National Park. It is stunning to see and makes a majestic backdrop while exploring the country.
Maasai Village: Visiting a Maasai Village is an enlightening experience. I was warmly welcomed by the tribe performing a traditional dance. The Maasai warriors showcased their incredible jumping skills while dressed in colorful garments and beautiful jewelry made by them. They showed us around the village, explained their traditions and customs, and shared personal stories. They demonstrated their spear techniques and let us attempt to do it ourselves. This was an eye-opening experience.
Giraffe Center: Visiting the Giraffe Center is both educational and enjoyable! As you walk around, you feed them up close, their long tongues are truly impressive!
Where to Shop:
Spinners Web: This shop is a must-visit in Kenya. They offer an extensive selection of locally made products, from jewelry to beautifully hand-beaded crafts. You’re sure to find something unique to take home. After shopping, you can relax and enjoy a snack at the on-site cafe.
Local Curio Shop: Found throughout Kenya, these shops are ideal for discovering locally crafted art, sculptures, and beaded jewelry. Each piece is one of a kind, making it the perfect souvenir to remember your trip.
