Things to do in New Yok City
The High Line
This scenic 1.45 mile park is a must for all ages. It is my favorite way to decompress in nature with the variety of plants and flowers that border the trail. Kids can run and skip along and get out that excess energy while teens can get some photos for "The Gram." Best of all, it is free!
Broadway Show
There is something for all ages! This is one of the best activities to do in NYC when the weather is bad. Head inside and be whisked to another world with the world's best entertainers. Family favorites include Hamilton, Stomp and Blue Man Group.
Central Park
Head to a shady patch of grass with an ice cream from one of the vendors lined down the sides of the park. Central Park is one of the best parts of NYC and you can often catch a concert or some amazing street musicians as well. There are boulders to climb for the kids and there is also a zoo inside the park.
Staten Island Ferry
Head to the southern tip of the city and catch the ferry. The whole family will love spotting the Statue of Liberty as well as being out on the water. It is a classic way to see the Statute of Liberty!
American Museum of Natural History
This museum is great for all ages and is air-conditioned. On a hot day this is the best place to cool off and the kids will love checking out the dinosaur bones.
Times Square
The glitz, lights and people will fascinate the whole family and is a must-see for first timers in the city. You don't have to stay long in this area, but the memory will last a lifetime. You will be entertained by street performers like the "Naked Cowboy" as well as talented musicians and dancers.
Yankee Stadium
If you have baseball fans in the family, you have to head to Yankees Stadium. Even if it isn't baseball season, you can schedule a tour and check out the best baseball franchises.
National Museum of Mathematics
Filled with fun and educational exhibits, the MoMath is the perfect spot on a rainy day. The kids will love the logo generators, human tree and robot swarm.
Places to eat & drink in New Yok City
L’arte del GelatoL: In an open-air area on the High Line, this is the perfect gelato spot. Grab a delicious gelato while strolling down the trail.
Figaro: A staple in the village, Figaro cafe has outdoor seating and is the perfect lunch spot for the whole family. It is casual, roomy and perfect for the whole family to sit down for a tasty lunch.
John's of Bleecker Street: One of the best pizza spots in NYC. Prepare to wait in line, but it provides piping hot pizza that will please your pickiest eater.
Balthazar: This staple from the 90s has French food that has something on the menu for everyone. Indulge a bit with a meal you won't forget.
Pete's Tavern: Bar food and drinks for the adults, this is one of the city's oldest taverns. Outdoor seating is best for strollers but the whole family can enjoy the food and memorabilia at this great slice of history.
Gramercy Tavern: This NY classic has solid food and atmosphere. This is perfect for a dinner where you want to splurge while in the Flatiron.
Serendipity: Decadent desserts that include the famous frozen hot chocolate, this NYC hot spot is a favorite with kids, teens and adults. Guaranteed to bring a smile to every guest.
Tavern on the Green: While visiting Central Park, this is the place to eat. Another hot spot, this restaurant has something for everyone and gorgeous views. Make sure to sit outside to get the full experience of the majestic park surroundings.
