Curator’s statement
Paso Robles is located halfway between Los Angeles & San Francisco, making it the perfect weekend destination. Having worked in the wine industry of Paso Robles for over five years now, I have some advice to lend you before you embark on your trip. This county is amazing, and has such a variety of activities to offer. Although this is The Ultimate Guide, there’s so much more to see when you return time and time again.

Things to do in Paso Robles
Wineries & Tasting Rooms to visit:
West Side Winery Recommendations:
East Side Winery Recommendations:
Downtown Tasting Rooms:
Sensorio: An immersive & unique outdoor exhibit of lights crafted by internationally acclaimed artists. As this is an evening exhibit, make sure to bring layers!
Libretto: A sensual, dimly lit jazz bar. I absolutely recommend seeing a show before or after dinner & grabbing a drink. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
Day Trips
San Luis Obispo/Edna Valley: Another wine region specializing in Chardonnay & Pinot Noir. This wine region is much smaller & more intimate than the abundance of Paso Robles. SLO, as we locals like to call it, is a fun college town with great dining & cocktail options. Be sure to walk around the historic downtown & visit Mission Plaza. Every Thursday evening there is a vibrant Farmers Market that takes over Higuera Street and is a must-see if you’re in the area.
Cambria: A charming and sleepy seaside town full of vintage shops & treats.
Avila: A fun small seaside town full of seafood options, beach goers, and shops.
Places to eat & drink in Paso Robles
I’m going to be honest, Paso Robles is full to the brim with fantastic wine & dining options. These are just a few of my tried-and-true favorites.
Food & Drinks
Kitchenette: Although technically outside of Paso Robles, this is my favorite spot for breakfast & brunch. Seating is limited, so be sure to go early & snag a spot.
The Neighborhood: For vegans, health nuts & our dietary-restricted friends. They have AMAZING cold-pressed juices, acai bowls, and smoothies.
Buona Tavola: A quant & charming, authentic Italian restaurant.
Il Cortile: Seasonal, contemporary Italian cuisine.
La Cosecha: Farm-to-table ingredients inspired by the flavors of Spain & South America.
Le Petite Canailles: a french-inspired, seasonally rotating menu.
Catch: a cozy restaurant known by the locals for their fantastic seafood.
Alchemist Garden for zodiac-inspired cocktails. I love going here for appetizers, drinks and desserts. They have also opened a speakeasy in the back called The Remedy. Those reservations are separate, but can be made through the same website.
1122 Speakeasy - A very romantic and intimate bar for craft cocktails & a date night.
Cane Tiki: A fun & festive tiki bar & restaurant serving up stiff cocktails & polynesian small plates.
