Things to do in California
Napa Valley
Late-summer is prime harvest season for the vineyards, if you are a fellow wine-lover Napa Valley should be at the top of your bucket list. The rolling vineyards are the perfect backdrop for saying goodbye to summer while enjoying a plethora of tastings and a truly immersive Wine Country experience.
New England
We may be in the dog days of summer, but that doesn't mean it all has to end. Pack your bags and head for the East Coast to enjoy the beautiful scenery in New England. If you really want to find a good deal on places to stay, Nantucket is where you'll want to head. Most of those who spend the summer on the coast will be back in the city and you'll be left to enjoy perfect weather without the congestion.
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Really give yourself an end-of-summer trip and head to the sandy beaches of Punta Cana. Although there are chances of storms in September, the blue water is a great escape from the hot, humid heat in the States.
San Diego
With great weather year-round, there isn't really a bad time to visit San Diego. The city is home to an amazing zoo and you can take a boat out on the water for some fun in the sun.
Las Vegas
Despite its location in the desert, Las Vegas has plenty of indoor entertainment to help you beat the heat. There are casinos galore and performances by well-known artists, magicians and so much more.
Michigan
This Midwestern state is surrounded by water and beautiful beaches, and since it's so far north you don't have to worry about the temperatures getting too hot. Don't miss out on an opportunity to stay in a quiet beach town and soak up those last few moments of calm before the business of fall sets in.
Places to eat & drink in California
All of these locations have tons to eat and drink, but here's a quick list of some of the most beloved watering holes and restaurants in each.
In Napa Valley, check out the Louis M. Martini Winery and in Nantucket pay a visit to Sister Ship or The Proprietors Bar and Table.
The Poseidón Restaurant & Pub in Punta Cana is a popular place for fresh seafood and Better Buzz Coffee Roasters Hillcrest is one of the coolest coffee shops in San Diego.
Market Place Buffet in Las Vegas offers a prime rib dinner in addition to its buffet as well as a buffet brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
Torch Lake in Michigan is home to Short's Brewing Company, a must-see for craft-beer lovers.
