Day 1-3: Auckland: Family Fun from Waiheke to Wētā

Waiheke Island is a captivating paradise near Auckland, New Zealand, known for its stunning beaches, vineyards, and artistic community.

After settling into your harborfront accommodation, take a relaxing stroll along the Auckland Waterfront, enjoying views of the harbor and city skyline. Grab lunch at Viaduct Harbour before heading to Wētā Workshop Unleashed, an interactive and immersive movie-making tour from the production team behind Lord of the Rings, Avatar and more iconic films.

Tomorrow morning, catch a ferry to Waiheke Island, a short and scenic ride from Auckland. Explore the island's beautiful beaches and visit the Waiheke Community Art Gallery for creative inspiration, then head to Wild on Waiheke for a family-friendly lunch, where you can enjoy wood-fired pizzas and outdoor games. End the afternoon at EcoZip Adventures for a thrilling zipline experience amid stunning natural landscapes.

Wrap up your Auckland experience with a relaxing day at Auckland Domain, a large park featuring walking trails and the Auckland War Memorial Museum. For families with older children and teens, enjoy the gentle hike up Mount Eden, one of Auckland's 53 volcanic cones, and a panoramic lookout over the city. Auckland Zoo and the SEA LIFE Aquarium are also popular with wildlife-loving littles.

Day 4-5: Rotorua: Family-Friendly Culture & Cuisine

Te Puia in Rotorua is a captivating geothermal park that showcases Māori culture and the mesmerizing beauty of bubbling geysers, steaming vents, and traditional arts.

Start your first day in Rotorua with an adrenaline-pumping adventure. Navigate through the thrilling rapids of the Kaituna River while enjoying the stunning natural surroundings. Later, be sure to visit Te Puia, a Māori cultural and geothermal center. Here you’ll experience traditional Māori performances, learn about their rich heritage and witness the impressive Pohutu Geyser. Tomorrow, prepare for a unique adventure: Zorbing! Experience the thrill of rolling down a hill in a giant inflatable ball at Zorb Rotorua. Ready to refuel? Head to Rotorua’s central EatStreat for a family-friendly lunch. After lunch, head to the Redwoods Forest (Whakarewarewa Forest) for a walk or bike ride amid towering redwood trees. Try the Redwoods Treewalk, a series of suspended bridges that offer a unique treetop perspective.

Day 5-8: Queenstown: Explore the Adventure Capital

Skyline Queenstown offers breathtaking views and exhilarating experiences, combining gondola rides, dining, and adventure activities in the stunning alpine surroundings of Queenstown, New Zealand.

Queenstown is the adventure capital of New Zealand, making it the perfect destination for active families. Take a leisurely cruise on Lake Wakatipu aboard the historic TSS Earnslaw steamship or embark on a scenic gondola ride to the Skyline Queenstown complex, where thrilling luge rides and panoramic views await.

For the adventurous, the Shotover Jet offers heart-pounding jet boat rides. Families can also explore Queenstown’s many biking and walking trails, lakefront relaxation and plenty of delicious restaurants including the famous Fergberger hamburger cafe. After hours, parents can wind-down with a luxurious soak at Onsen Hot Pools or a sophisticated nightcap at Eichardt’s Bar.

The spectacular Milford Sound is a must-see for any New Zealand visitor. Easily reached from Queenstown, a comfortable coach or self-drive journey through awe-inspiring landscapes will keep young minds engaged with ever-changing scenery. Upon arrival at Milford Sound, board a small boat cruise that takes your family up close to cascading waterfalls, towering cliffs and playful marine life.

Day 8-10: Central Otago: Authentic Farm Immersion

Lake Wanaka is a serene jewel set against the backdrop of New Zealand's Southern Alps, inviting visitors to enjoy outdoor adventures and the tranquility of its pristine blue waters.

For families seeking a unique and enriching getaway, luxury farm stays provide a genuine escape from the tourist crowds, allowing families to connect with nature and each other.

Around the alpine city of Queenstown, there are several working stations that feel worlds away from the ordinary. The scenic journey offers incredible views of the Southern Alps, Lake Wanaka, and the picturesque landscapes that make the drive a memorable part of the experience.
