  • Portuguese Beach - Tucked away within Mendocino Headlands State Park, Portuguese Beach is a serene, sandy cove ideal for picnicking and enjoying the natural beauty of the Mendocino coast.

  • Jug Handle Beach - The beach is the perfect starting point for exploring the Ecological Staircase Trail, which takes visitors through five wave-cut terraces formed over 500,000 years.

  • Big River Beach - A must-visit destination in Mendocino for its expansive sandy shores, scenic views and wide range of recreational activities.

  • MacKerricher State Park - Offers stunning ocean views and opportunities to spot seals, sea lions and migratory whales. Also a great spot for tide pooling during low tide.

  • Russian Gulch State Park - Discover the park's scenic trails, the stunning Russian Gulch Bridge and the picturesque waterfall that awaits hikers.

  • Noyo Beach - A great place to watch fishing boats come and go or enjoy fresh seafood at local restaurants.

  • Loot and Lore - Offers a captivating selection of crystals, gemstones and other mystical treasures.

  • Mendocino Chocolate Company - Renowned for its exquisite handcrafted chocolates, made with the finest ingredients and a passion for quality and flavor. I always stop in for a truffle.

  • Skunk Train - Riding this train is an unforgettable journey through the majestic redwood forests of Mendocino County, experiencing the timeless allure of steam-powered locomotion while immersing yourself in a bygone era of rail travel. They even offer night trips to a secret bar in the middle of the redwood forest. You can also ride the rail bikes along the historic tracks.

  • Catch a Canoe - Rent a kayak or canoe and paddle along the serene Big River, enjoying the tranquil waters and diverse wildlife.

  • Mendocino Art Center - Experience the vibrant local arts scene with galleries, studios and workshops showcasing the work of regional artists.

  • Noyo Fish Company - Specializing in fresh, locally caught seafood, Noyo Fish Company offers a tantalizing array of offerings, from succulent Dungeness crab and wild-caught salmon to delectable shellfish and smoked fish delicacies. I always go with the fish tacos and a pint of local beer.

  • Drop In Donuts - Offers a selection of freshly made, handcrafted donuts that are as delicious as they are indulgent. From classic favorites like glazed and chocolate-covered to unique creations such as maple bacon and fruity glazes, or my absolute favorite the Mexican hot chocolate, these donuts are always worth a stop. Make sure to go early, because once they sell out, they close for the day.

  • The Raven - Renowned for its exceptional vegan cuisine, offering a diverse menu of plant-based dishes that celebrate the vibrant flavors and textures of fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes.

  • Mendocino Cafe - Whether you're enjoying a leisurely meal on the sunny patio or sipping a glass of wine by the fireplace, the Mendocino Cafe invites you to experience the essence of coastal dining. I love the evening outdoor dining here!
